We had too much to say about our wonderful and very enjoyable holiday in China. First of all, I would like to thank China Discovery for organizing our trip around China which went completely to plan. We were extremely happy with the service you provided which was absolutely tailor made for our unusual requirements. We could not have seen even a small fraction of these sites without your expertise and knowledgeable guides. We also felt that we received very good value for money when comparing our unique tour to standard packages that are advertised. Being in a small group also meant we had the individual attention of the guide and were able to move around more freely. Thank you very much for your assistance. We will be more than happy to recommend you to others.

Magnificent Heritages and Chinese Culture in Beijing

We were met at Beijing by Andie the guide and her driver. The vehicle was modern and comfortable and the driver was extremely competent.

Andie was a very knowledgeable and conscientious lady who made sure we saw every site (Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Beijing Hutongs...and dumpling making class) listed on the itinerary. She explained the history of the places we visited which was much appreciated as we had not done a great deal of research ourselves. She also took us to the front of queues and seemed to know all of the short cuts and best entrances. The driver would meet us within minutes of leaving each venue and we would be whisked to the next. The only problem was of our own making - we felt we crammed too much in and the various sites merged into each other in our memories. We would probably have missed out one of the temples with hindsight. We particularly enjoyed the time in the Hutongs and would have preferred more time here to wander on our own had we have known.

We were taken back to the airport where she booked us onto our next flight with comfortable time to spare.

Adorable Giant Panda & Leisure Time in Chengdu

We were met at Chengdu by Nancy the guide who we absolutely adored. Her English was faultless and she fitted into our family unit perfectly - in fact my daughter who lives in China is keeping in touch with her. We enjoyed everything in Chengdu - pandas in Giant Panda Base, park, restaurant, downtown and tea garden and were really sad that we couldn't have another day there.

Again we were booked onto our next flight with time to spare.

Avatar World & Magic Natural Wonder in Zhangjiajie

We were met at Zhangjiajie by Linda who was very friendly but we had quite a lot of trouble understanding her as her English was not as good as the previous two. We were extremely fortunate on the day of arrival as the weather was bright and clear. This made our trip to Tianmen Mountain with the cable cars, walkways (including the glass ones) and spectacular views completely unforgettable. Apparently there had been almost no visibility the previous day! The weather was less good the next day and the walk along the valley was something we wouldn't include if planning again. We did take an optional boat trip in the afternoon which was very pleasant. The third day was spoiled by the weather and we had very poor visibility for the 'Avatar' scenery but of course this was completely out of your control. We felt rather sorry for Linda who did her best to take us to viewpoints where visibility was a little better.

Again we were booked onto our flight without hitch.

DIY Metropolis Exploration in Shanghai

We were met at Shanghai airport by Warren and booked into our last hotel. The details of us returning for another night before our flight home was understood by the hotel and Warren left us. We then had a few days on our own with our daughter organizing us.

The hotels you had booked for us were beyond our expectations. Our only problem occurred at the hotel in Zhangjiajie. The first room we were given was very cold, quite small and a little scruffy. We were also unable to get hot water. (Our daughters’ room was superb so we realized this was way below standard). We contacted Linda who returned to the Hotel and she asked them to swap our room. Only the 'Honeymoon Suite' was available as they were otherwise fully booked. We were happy to accept this and were then very comfortable.
