What to Wear: In September and early October, it is OK to wear a long-sleeved blouse with a light coat to Jiuzhaigou, but in November, you will need to wear sweater and thick coat to keep out the cold. Please remember to wear a pair of comfortable shoes or boots because there will be some walking.
What to Pack: Bring a backpack to take some water and snacks in case you get thirsty or hungry on the road. There will be less rainfall but still several rainy days, you can take a light raincoat according to the weather.
1. Jiuzhaigou in late October and November can be as cold as winter. Please Pay attention to the weather forecast and dress accordingly to keep yourself warm.
2. Try to avoid visiting Jiuzhaigou on Mid-Autumn Festival (usually a 3-day holiday in late September) and during the National Day Holiday (first week of October).
3. Jiuzhaigou enters the off season every year from November 15, the entrance fee will drop from CNY 169 to CNY 80, and the tourist bus fare will decrease from CNY 90 to CNY 80.
The Y shape Jiuzhaigou consists of three main valleys (Shuzheng Valley, Rize Valley, Zechawa Valley) with a total length of over 50km. You will need at least 1-2 days to explore this beautiful place. Shuzheng Valley is near the entrance, so you can visit there at the beginning or ending of your trip. Pass Shuzheng Valley, you will meet the famous Nuorilang Waterfall, then you can either go to Rize Valley in the northeast or Zechawa Valley in the northwest.
If time permits, after visiting Jiuzhaigou, it is highly recommended to spend some time in the 150km away Huanglong Valley and Mounigou to appreciate the multi-colored terrace ponds and Karst caves.
