Totally, Chengdu has four major train stations with several minor train stations in the suburban area, operating nearly 500 trains for passenger daily, the major trains stations are located in different directions, namely, Chengdu East Railway Station (running over 300 trains: G, D, C, T, K trains), Chengdu North Railway Station (running over 60 trains: C, D, Z, T, K trains), Chengdu South Railway Station (running over 30 inter-city high speed train: C trains), Chengdu West Railway Station (intercity high speed train to Ya'an and Dujiangyan). Out of the downtown area, the county train stations include Pixian West Railway Station, Xipu Railway Station, Pujiang Railway Station, Shuangliu West Railway Station, Hongguang Railway Stations, etc. Among them, Chengdu East Railway Station is the largest high-speed train handling the most high speed trains to/off Chengdu, while Chengdu Railway Station is the only train station in Chengdu located near the city center with trains to Tibet.
In the future, Shiling railway station is planned to be built near the passenger's terminal station in the central east area. Also, Tianfu New Railway Station will be built in the south region, serving as the transportation hub for Tianfu New District and the mega Tianfu International Airport.

Name: Chengdu East Railway Station (成都火车东站)
Location: Qingyijiang Rd, Chenghua District, Eastern Chengdu (成都市成华区青衣江路)
Distance: about 9km (20mins’ ride) to downtown Chengdu; 23km (40mins’ driving) to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport & 15km (25 mins’ ride) to Chengdu Railway Station & 12km (20 mins’ driving) to Chengdu South Railway Station
Been put into use in 2013, Chengdu East Railway Station is a major transportation hub in southwest China and a very important high speed train station dispatching G, D, C trains from/to Chengdu. More importantly, it is used as the starting of Xian Chengdu High Speed Railway and Chengdu-Leshan-Mianyang High Speed Railway.
Chengdu East Railway Station contains 3 large parts: east square, west square and station building. Covering an area of 45,333 sq km, it has 14 platforms and 26 tracks. Totally, there are 5 floors inside the station, including the shopping and fast food restaurants area in the top, waiting hall on 2nd floor, entrance and security inspection points on 1st floor and two floors in underground space.
1F: Outside Area - West Square on first floor and East Square (2F) both have a big ticket office (handles tickets selling, altering, refunding), lots of Automatic Ticket Machine and E-ticket Pick-up Machine, stores and bank ATMs. And there is an entrance to inner station and many platforms to underground floor (B1) for taking bus, taxi, subway and long distance coach. Inner Area - On first floor (in West Square) has one ticket check (A1), Left luggage service, drinking water, police office and accessible elevator and escalator up/down to 2nd floor. The boarding platforms are also located on this level, which only can be accessed through ticket checking.
2F: A huge waiting hall where has tickets checks (A2~A26 & B1 ~B26), waiting seats, Facilities and Service: VIP Lounge, China Construction Bank ATM machine, Bank of China, small shops, mobile phone charger (next to KFC), tea house, children’s playground, smoking area, book store, Red-cap Porter service, a few groceries and snack bars, lots of toilets (including baby care room and disabled toilets) and drinking water. Note: Passengers entering from East Square will directly reach the waiting hall on the second floor.
3F: A small elevated storey of commercial area with Mcdonald's, snacks of Chengdu, some Chinese style fast food restaurants and a shop selling local souvenirs and specialty.
B1: All trains will arrive on basement one, and then passengers need to exit from here. On this floor, you can easily find signs for bus, subway, coach and way out to surface ground. This layer is the most crowded center distributing passenger to all destinations in Chengdu.
B2: It is the subway departure station of Metro Line 2 and 7, after security check on the 1st floor underground. The two lines offer fast and convenient transport to downtown Chengdu and other railway stations.
Chengdu East Railway Station is well-connected with other regions of Chengdu by metro and bus. Whether you take trains from here or leave here, there are many convenient means of transportation you can take advantage of.
Downtown & Chengdu Panda Base to Chengdu East Railway Station
❶ By Taxi: takes about 25 mins from Chunxi Road 30 mins from Tianfu Sqaure; about 20 mins from Chengdu Panda Base.
❷ By Subway: takes about 15 mins from Chunxi Road with 6 stopovers by Metro Line 2; 20 stations from Renmin Park, 14 stations from Jinsha Site Museum.
❸ By Local (Public) Bus: takes about 1 hour from Chunxi Road by bus 4, 47, 58, 141.
Chengdu Shuangliu Airport to Chengdu East Railway Station
Since Chengdu East Railway Station is over 20km far from the southwest Shuangliu Airport (成都双流国际机场, IATA: CTU), a direct and fast transport is most recommended, like subway, taxi, and airport shuttle bus.
Please note that T1 terminal serves for Sichuan Airlines and flights to International, HK, Macau, and Taiwan while T2 terminal is used for domestic airlines to Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, and Lhasa and so on.
❶ Airport Express Line: No.3 Airport Shuttle Bus shunts between Chengdu East Railway Station and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport directly from 07:00am to 20:00pm, stopping by 3 stations. The shuttle bus depart from West Square every half an hour and rides around 1 hour to Gate 1 of terminal 1 or place between Gate 4 and 5 on terminal 2.
❷ Taxi: Taking a local cap from the 23km-far airport needs 30~40 mins and a cost of ¥60.0.
❸ Subway: You need to take Metro Line 10 at Terminal 1 or 2 first, and then transfer in Taipingyuan Station to Metro Line 7. It goes by 9 stations to Chengdu East Railway Station.
To Other Railway Stations
The good news is that the three main train stations are well-connected with each other through Metro Line 7, if you prefer a local city transport to transfer among them, check the details to go.
● To Chengdu Railway Station: take outer loop of Metro Line 7, passing 10 stations, and cost around 25 mins.
● To Chengdu South Railway Station: take inner loop of Metro Line 7, passing 6 stations, and cost around 12 mins.

❶ By Taxi: takes about 25 mins to Chunxi Road, 30 mins to Tianfu Sqaure
❷ By Subway: takes about 15 mins to Chunxi Road with 6 stopovers by Metro Line 2; 7 stations to Tianfu Square by Metro line 2
❸ By Bus: takes about 1 hour from Chengdu East Railway Station to Tianfu Square by bus 4, 47.
◆ Chengdu East Railway Station to Chengdu Panda Base
❶ By Taxi: about 18km, 30 mins to Chengdu Panda Base
❷ By Public Transportation: takes about 45min to Chengdu Panda Base directly by Panda Express No. 4 from the train station (opening time: 9:00am to 2:00pm); You can also take Metro Line 7 and transfer to line 3 to reach Panda Avenue Station and get on Bus 198, 198A, 87, or Panda Express No. 3 to reach Chengdu Panda Base, and the duration will be about one hour.
◆ Chengdu East Railway Station to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport

Name: Chengdu Railway Station (成都站)
Location: No.1 Zhandong Rd, Jinniu District, Northern Chengdu (成都市金牛区站东路1号)
Distance: about 30km for 1 hour’s driving to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport
Starting service from 1952, the Chengdu Railway Station is an old train station, also called Chengdu North Railway Station by the locals, which currently operates most normal trains (K, T, Z trains) and a very small number of high speed trains (C, D trains) to/off Chengdu. It is also called Chengdu North Railway Station by local people, because of its location in north. Paper train ticket officially are printed as Chengdu Station (成都站) and railway, bus stations both take the title of Cheng North Railway Station (成都北站). It is the nearest train station to Chengdu Panda Base.
Chengdu Railway Station has 6 platforms and 12 tracks, and runs daily normal trains to Beijing (Z, T trains), Hangzhou, Kunming, Qingdao, Kashgar, Lanzhou, Urumuqi and nearby small cities in Sichuan (K trains). Meanwhile, it executes only 19 high speed trains to Shanghai, Wuhan (D trains), Mount Qingcheng, Dujiangyan (C trains) every day. If you plan to take a train to Lhasa, Tibet, Chengdu Railway Station is the right departure station you need to get to, otherwise, it’s the arrival station of a Tibet train travel to Chengdu.

Ticket Office is a separate building on the left side of station square. Foreigners wishing to collect tickets must bring passport to the ticket counter personally. There is also a row of Pick-up machine at the gate area, but only available for Chinese ID cards holders.
Outer Area: The south entrance and security point are in the middle of the first floor. On the left hand, there is KFC and small shops, while the exit is on the right side. You can use Left Luggage Service here.
Inner Area: Passing through identity check, you firstly need to check carefully from the huge screen about which waiting hall you need to go. Disabled 2F: On this floor, there are ting Halls, ticket check gates, VIP restroom, toilets and snack stores and special facilities for the old and disabled.
If you don’t know the local transport well, taking a taxi is the most convenient way to reach the station. Or, you can make use of the two subway lines (Metro Line 1 & 7), get off at Chengdu North Railway Station and walk a few minutes to Chengdu Railway Station.
Chengdu Railway Station is connected with Tianfu Square, Wenshu Monastery (downtown area) by Metro Line 1, Jinsha Site Museum by Line 7, and Chengdu South Railway Station by both Line 1 and 7.
❶ Airport Express Line: No.2 Airport Shuttle Bus runs between Chengdu Railway Station and Chengdu Shuangliu Airport directly. It departs every 20 minutes at the bus station near the Ticket Office (ticket: about ¥17.0) and rides about 1.5 hrs.
❷ Taxi: about 30km and ¥70.0 for 1 hour’s driving
❸ Subway: take outer loop of Metro Line 7 first, and then transfer to Metro Line 10 to Shuangliu Airport Tl/T2 or do the same on the opposite direction to Chengdu Railway Station. The fare is ¥6.0.
❶ Taxi: about 16km, for 35min’s driving
❷ Public Transportation: take outer loop of Metro Line 7 first, and then transfer to Metro Line 3 to Panda Avenue and get on Bus 198, 198A, 87, or Panda Express No. 3 to reach Chengdu Panda Base, and the duration will be about one hour.
❶ Taxi: about 5km to Tianfu Square, for 20min’s driving; about 7km to Chunxi Road, for 30min’s driving
❷ Public Transportation: take Metro Line 1 first, and then transfer to Metro Line 2 to reach Chunxi Road Station and Tianfu Square Station, and the duration is about 20min.

Location: Northern Tianfu Avenue, Guixi Street, High-tech Zone, Southern Chengdu (成都市高新区桂溪街道天府大道北段)
Distance: about 14km for 25mins’ driving to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport
Chengdu South Railway Station is an auxiliary transport distributor with high speed trains to Leshan and Emeishan via Chengdu-Leshan-Mianyang High Speed Railway. All of them are C trains, either passing or originating from Chengdu South Railway Station. For its closer distance between Leshan and Emeishan, most C trains will arrive at here, though a large majority of C trains are departing from Chengdu East Railway.

Distance: about 22km for 40mins’ driving to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport; about 9km for 30mins' drving to Tianfu Square; about 21km to Chengdu Panda Base for 40min's drving
Chengdu West Railway Station is mainly serving the intercity high-speed C trains to Ya'an, Qionglai and few K trains the Beijing, Taiyuan, etc. It is still under construction for a gateway station to Tibet in the future and to reach the west part of Sichuan. It is well linked by the Tramway Rong 2, Metro Line 4 and Line 9.
Besides the four major train stations, there are two more train stations are approved to be built in the next five years, namely the Tianfu New Railway Station and Shiling Railway Station. The former one is supposed to be built as the largest railway station, the transportation hub in the Tianfu New District an Chengdu High-Tech Zone, connecting the mega airport, Tianfu International Airport with the downtown Chengdu, stretching out to reach Chengdu Jianyang city and Zizhong City. The other one, the Shiling Railway Station will be placed in the downtown area near Shiling Bus station serving intercity trains to the northeast area of Sichuan. Other smaller train station in the outskirts county area are also put into use for better connection with Chengdu downtown, including Xipu Railway Station, Pixian West Railwau Station, etc. Passengers who would like to get to Dujiangyan and Mt. Qingcheng can easily get in the train from Xipu Railway Station which is also the metro station.
