The high speed railway between Guangzhou and Shanghai is 1,509km (938 miles) long. It passes through about 10 cities in 3 provinces (Hunan Province, Jiangxi Province and Zhejiang Provinces). There are 16 railway stations along the railway totally, including Guangzhou North (广州北), Hengshan West (衡山西), Changsha South (长沙南), Shangrao (上饶), Hangzhou East (杭州东), Jiaxing South (嘉兴南), etc.

Guangzhou South Railway Station (Guangzhounan Railway Station, 广州南站)Guangzhou South Railway Station is located in Shibi Street, Panyu District, Guangzhou City (广州市番禺区石壁街道), about 17km to the city center. As the largest and busiest railway station in southern China, it serves several major high speed railways. It is well-equipped with city rail traffic and you can easily get there by metro Line 3, Line 6 and Line 7. Besides, it also offers long distance bus and public bus. Calling a tax is also quite convenient in the railway station.
Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Stations(上海虹桥站)
Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is Shanghai’s most important railway station located in No. 1500, Mingui Road, Minhang District (上海市闵行区申贵路1500号). It is 5km (about 40 minutes’ driving) to the Bund, (about 40 minutes’ driving) 20km to Shanghai Museum and (about 45 minutes’ driving) 25km to Yuyuan Garden. Types of Seats
There are Second Class Seats, First Class Seats and Business Class Seats on most high speed G-trains. The second class is the standard type at a budget price. The First Class Seats feature in much quieter and more comfortable environment. The Business Class Seats offer a luxury experience onboard. The train ticket can be booked online, with a ticket agency, at the ticket offices in railway stations etc. Remember to book your ticket as soon as possible, especially in the peak seasons. Reading tickets carefully to make sure that you get to the correct railway station and board the correct train. 1) Prepare your documents well (passport, visa); 2) Get to the right trains station in advance 3) collect train tickets; 4) Read your train ticket; 5) Pass the Identity Check; 6) Security check & luggage check; 7) Find right waiting room; 8) Cross the ticket checking gate; 9) Get to the right platform; 10) Get on your train.
