Hong Kong Beijing High Speed Train Route

Hong Kong Beijing High Speed Railway, at a distance of 2,440km (1,516miles), is a newly-built long high speed railway that connects Hong Kong and Beijing, which equals to nearly twice the length of Beijing Shanghai High Speed Rail. The railway begins from the new West Kowloon Terminus at downtown Hong Kong, and then goes to Shenzhen Futian Railway Station for 14 minutes without stopovers, later it runs on the pre-existing Shenzhen Beijing High Speed Railway and ends in Beijing West Railway Station in Beijing. Totally, this line passes through 7 provinces and over 10 major stations in south, central and north China, including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, and Shijiazhuang and so on. Thanks to this new rail, the 24 hours’ train travel between Hong Kong and Beijing is largely shortened to 9 hours within one day. Better yet, the closer link between Hong Kong and mainland China gives tourists greater flexibility to arrange the arrival and departure destinations.

Hong Kong Kowloon Terminus (香港九龙总站)

Location: No.1 Austin Road W, Yau Ma Tei, between Kowloon Station and Austin Station, central Hong Kong (香港特区油尖旺区,地铁西九龙站与柯士甸站之间)

West Kowloon Terminus is the only railway station in the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou Shenzhen Hong Kong Express Rail Link. The station put into use in 2018 offers fast and convenient high speed train service to neighboring Guangzhou, Shenzhen in Guangdong Province and to long-distance cities in mainland China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Guilin, Chengdu and more. Passengers taking trains from there to mainland China can go through simplified procedures and checks inside the station areas. Besides the taxies, tourists can also travel around Hong Kong by the MTR lines. It takes about 50 minutes to Disneyland from the station by taking the West Rail Line, East Rail Line and Disneyland Resort Line, and 1.5 hours to Hong Kong International Airport from there by West Rail Line, Tung Chung Line and Airport Express. Beijing West Railway Station (北京西站)

Location: No.118, East Lianhuachi Road, Fengtai District, Beijing (北京市丰台区莲花池东路118号)

Opened in early 1996, Beijing West Railway Station serves as one of the principle railway stations in Beijing. It is the departure station of Beijing Guangzhou High Speed Railway, the future Beijing Hong Kong High Speed Railway, Beijing Kowloon (Hong Kong) Railway and Beijing Lhasa (Tibet) Railway. Generally, the station delivers more than 250 trains (including G, D, Z, T and K series trains) to nationwide destinations, like Xian, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Chongqing, Taiyuan, Kunming, Lanzhou, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Changsha. The station is accessible by subway lines (Beijing Metro Line 7 and Line 9) and taxi service at basement layers, and bus, airport express at ground areas. Class of Ticket

On high speed trains from Hong Kong to Beijing, there are two kinds of tickets are provided, including First Class Seat and Second Class Seat. Second Class Seat is the most budget level you will share a row space with other passengers. First Class of Seat is more comfortable and quiet for those who prefer a good rest on the way. Such arrangement is similar to some high speed D trains in China. However, as the short running time between the cities, there is no Business Class Seats, Premier Class Seats or Dining Car onboard. Book, Collect, Alter and Cancel

For most high speed railway sections in China mainland, foreign tourists can book train ticket online or ask help from ticket agency, or buy the tickets physically at the train station with your valid passport. One thing you should remember is to book the ticket as early as possible, especially in peak tourist seasons. After collecting the tickets, please read carefully about the train number, departure date and station to make sure you won’t miss the train.
