i want to travel from Hong Kong to Guilin on September the 9th. Do I have to buy tickets in advance or can I buy them when i arrive in Hong Kong

Hello Colin,

Greetings from China! according to the latest news, the Guangzhou Shenzhen Hong Kong High Speed Railway is planned to be officially operated on September 23th, 2018, at that time, high speed trains from Hong Kong to cities in mainland China will be available to experience.

However, if you want to travel by the high speed train to Guilin on September 9th, you can go via Shenzhen. Take the Subway Lok Ma Chau Spur Line (香港地铁落马洲支线) from Kowloon Tong (九龙塘), Mong Kok (旺角), Tsim Sha Tsui (尖沙咀), Causeway Bay (铜锣湾), Wanchai (湾仔) to Central (中环) to Lok Ma Chau(落马洲). Cross the China Customs and take Shenzhen Subway Line 4 to Shenzhen North Railway Station (深圳北) for about 20 minutes. Then you can board your train to Guilin. There are 4 G-series running from Shenzhen North to Guilin every day (departing at around 07:21, 11:45, 14:26, 14:54) , arriving at Guilin North Railway Station after about 3 hours. And due to the part of goring through the customs usually needs time for long queue, such kind of transfer via Shenzhen would take at least 5 hours.

Besides, you could also transfer from Hong Kong to Guilin directly by flight, and it needs only 1.5 hours.

Wish you an unforgettable travel in China!
