Thanks for tickets. Good hotel, wonderful tour guide. On our way now to Heavenly Lake.Akmet was a fantastic guide for us in Turpan. His English was perfect. And his knowledge was outstanding. We have had the most wonderful holiday. The tour guides have been fantastic. Especially Sadik in kashgar. All 3 were very professional and knowledgeable. Our experience in xinjiang has been the best we have hadn't in China. So, thank you for our tour of xinjiang.

Trip to Urumqi, Turpan, Kashgar and Tashkurgan. Had a fantastic 11 day tour of Xinjiang Province. Wonderful local guides who were extremely knowledgeable about their areas. Breathtaking scenary wherever we went, especially the road trip to Tashkurgan! Would definately return to Xinjiang and go to many more places that we haven’t visited.

Things are great! things are slower when traveling with a baby. lol but John and the driver are so understanding.

It's really great everything being private. especially because of the baby. and he has his own schedule and it doesn't always work with the tour schedule. it's nice that it's okay and we don't have to make other people wait for us or rush from one place to another. we went on the silk Road tour last summer. and it was great but such a strict schedule. and other people so we can't be late or take our time at certain places. we actually think we want to travel again in August before our holiday is over.

Well, my time here has come to an end and I have had "THE" most amazing trip; and seen so many wonderful things in China that I would never have been able to do without your help. The itinerary that you put together for me was perfect and fantastic. Thank you so so much. Every hotel was delightfully comfortable and just right after each full and busy day. The breakfasts were delicious and catered for many different tastes.

The guides and drivers were all increadible. So obliging and flexable....willing and able to meet our every need, politely, patiently and professionally.

I was very pleased to get an email from you today and know that you were safe. Our friends in Beijing have also managed to keep well by keeping isolated since January. They have a baby now so it was very important to keep well. My family and the group that travelled to Tibet with you are all safe and well. I am sorry about all the people that China has lost over the last few months to the virus. The world is a sad place to be at the present time.

In New Zealand we are entering our 4th week of full lockdown. We have all been required to stay home except for essential services. Supermarkets have stayed open but with strict distancing and only a few people allowed in at a time. This was fortunate as life would have been a lot different had the supermarkets closed. We can go out in the local area for short walks or runs for exercise but other than that police are being very strict on people who have no reason to be out and about.

We appear to be winning the fight so far as we have only had 11 lives lost and around 1500 people infected. This because our lockdown came very early and almost every New Zealander has stuck to the rules and kept apart. We also closed our borders early and it doesn’t look like anybody in New Zealand will be leaving the country or people from other countries coming here for quite some time. Possibly years. Our success in keeping the virus out, so far, means we will not have immunity to it but we have saved a lot of lives. The government will make the decision on Monday if we come out of full lockdown and what the new rules will be.

How are you in Chengdu? I hope your beautiful city has been well in the current time and suffered only a little. We hear little of how things are in China other than the numbers. I note from your attachment about Personal Protection information that your approach has been very similar to ours including policing measures and governmental control. We have done it mainly by co-operation and few have been fined or arrested for disobedience as most are in agreement with the measures taken and our government has kept us fully informed as to what is happening on a daily basis.

Stay Safe and well. Please keep me up to date with how you are. Hopefully both our countries are over the worst and we can begin contact again.

We and my family all are safe. We managed to work from home since last month now. My town where am I living there in Saudi Arabia "AlQatif City" is quietly safe and under control of COVID-19. with only minor cases comparing to other city in Saudi Arabia and. We have followed the instruction and policies from our government to avoid affecting and spreading of COVID-19.

Since the COVID-19 here in Netherlands im staying at home everyday, it’s been a month now since the lockdown in Netherlands, Kinda long staying at home and not going to work. hehe

Here in Sweden it just gets more and more stressed. More and more are dying and the hospitals is overcrowded. Hopefully it'll end soon.

Thank you for the pdf. I'll send it around. The authorities in Sweden are a bit quiet about a lot. I dont think they want to cause panic so they doesn't tell us about everything. It's mostly people from hospitals that talks to media who gives us the right information about the situation. And also information from other countries of course. Hi Rita. You are very kind for your advices.

As you can read in internet, all Europe is blocked. Italian government was the first to introduce strong restrictions to try to stop the infections. Italy is the first country for the number of deads, more than 2 thousands. At the moment the infection continues, unfortunatly. Doctors say it takes other 2 weeks to reach the pick. Our government established by law to remain at home, everybody. We can go out  shopping for foods only, possibly with masks( I have some), with one meter of distance. Now there is a strong control to make people respect the law, big fines for offenders.

These restrictions until 3th April. Anyway it is very hard . 

I red China is getting better and I hope you don't have problems.

We are fine at the moment. I will inform you about recent news later.

Thank you for your email. 

It is good to hear that matters are improving in China. Here in Manila the virus is only just beginning to take its toll.

One of the doctors at the hospital that recently treated me for a minor cancer has died from its effects and most of the others at that hospital are now under quarantine. Many more people will die in the coming weeks. Because of my age (over 60) the local authorities do not allow me to leave my apartment -but that is fine with me as it will force me to write up material I have been meaning to write up for some time now.

Once this is over I sincerely hope to get back to China - this time covering Xining and Chengdu. Always on the search for rhubarb growing in the wild! And when the virus allows that to happen I shall be in touch with China Discovery. The last trip you organized for us was excellent.

Thank you for the list of suggestions.  Our governor of our state, Oregon, asked residents to stay home for the next few weeks, possibly through April.  We are staying home with the exception of grocery shopping.

Our trips for the next few months have been cancelled (I had a trip planned to see Jordan and Egypt).  One thing I am happy about is that I was able to visit your lovely country last year for two weeks.  I met nice people, saw beautiful sights both in the cities and in nature -- especially the wildlife, had good food and lodgings, and was impressed with the bullet trains.

My husband Started working from home since 3/17. I am a dental hygienist so my office has cancelled all my patients for the next 3 weeks. I am so grateful that my husband & I were able to visit your country. I LOVED China so much. We had wonderful weather & clear skies. We had purchased a pack of N95 masks that we took to China but never used. I have yet to have need to use it during this COVID-19.

Thank you for contacting me to share your concern. I remember my wonderful trip to China to visit my son Jeremy in 2015. You were so helpful in helping me plan the Yangtze River cruise. Now the world is at war with the horrible Coronavirus. I am safe in Boise, Idaho with my father who is living with me. In my state of Idaho, there are 24 cases. All people are staying home and restaurants, schools, bars, businesses are closed. Thank you for the helpful information. We must hope and pray we fight and win this war with the virus.

During this hard period of time in CHINA our hearts are with the people of CHINA.

We listen and watch the news and are deeply sorry for the terrible events in Hubei Province and we see with big sorrow the empty streets in Beijing and many other cities.

We are positive that the Chinese medical system together with the people will overcome the Corona virus Disease, but the cost of lives is very high.

We see that many people are afraid to go out of their homes, schools are closed and also all public places. Tourists are not coming, which is very bad for the Chinese economy.

My wife and myself love CHINA and the Chinese people. Although we do not know the Chinese language, we have found that we can quite easily communicate with the people in the street, in the train stations and in various places we have visited. The people are very helpful, trying to assist give direction and answer questions.

We are sure that we shall visit CHINA soon. My wife has visited China 6 times. I have been to China many more (over 30). First time in 1992.

We wish you Happy New Chinese Year. We hope life will soon get to normal.

Today was a little colder, but everything is fine and the baby is doing well! We spent the day in Xian today also. We thought our tour yesterday was going to see the Terracota Warriors (our mistake!),so we took the day today to do that.

Me and my family are Indonesian 华人, my grandparents from my mother's side are from Guang Dong and from my dad are Fu Jian, and its been 10yrs since the last time we visit China and we want to visit some of the places where no Indonesian Travel will brought us, and thankfully we found you. I represent my family as well would like to say we are very satisfied with your service, all your local guides are very kind, polite, helpful, friendly and professional, they understand the history of the places we went to and explain very clearly. We have Andy in Shanghai, Peter in Hangzhou, Xiao Wei in Guilin and Xiao Yang in Guiyang/Tongren. We are all very satisfied with your service and arrangement. Thank you for helping us to see the places that is actually not really "normal", like the National Mine Park in Tongren, I know that actually this is not much of a tourist destination, but it is actually very beautiful there, and also willing to help to arrange for us on our weird request to have a visit to Shanghai Wonderland Intercontinental Hotel. Thank you for your patience with my mom, as she is very high demand, asking this and that but you so patiently explain to her and fulfill her demand. Honestly speaking, I found your company through Google while looking for a China's local travel agent, at first I kind of have some doubts, worried that it might be a scam, but I read throughout all the reviews in Trip Advisor, then I'm convinced. So, once again, Thank you for everything, we are all very satisfied and definitely will look for you again for our next trip to China. I only do have a small comments though, I forgot the name of the guide who takes us to the train station in Shanghai (its not Andy), we're not really fond of him, he seems to be in a rush to leave us the soonest possible, and not really helpful. But anyway, he is only sending us off to the train station, so not too big of a deal. Peter is very nice, because my dad is so fond of China and the G20, he took us to go to the place where they held a beautiful light shows on the buildings, they are very beautiful, although we went there with our own expenses, its so worth it. And it’s our luck to be able to watch the show as from what Peter told us, its only held a for 3 times a week, I forgot which days. Xiao Wei offered us to go on a cruise at night in Guilin to see the bird fishing and cruising along the river to see Gulin's night view, it is very beautiful. So overall we are very satisfied, and I will definitely recommend China's Discovery to my friends and family who wants to visit China. For photos, unfortunately I haven't got the time to transfer the photos to my computer yet, but once I got them I will share them with you.

My review:

We just returned from our second trip to China, both organized by Rita Jiang from China Discovery.

In 2016, I opted to visit Xi'an (Terracotta Warriors) and Chonqing, before getting on a Yangtze River cruise. I found Rita's name on some internet reviews and got in touch with her. I was a bit apprehensive, having never done business with a China-based travel consultant, but my fear turned out to be completely unwarranted. Rita and China Discovery exceeded my expectations by providing excellent, knowledgeable English-speaking tour guides that took care of all of our needs - transportation, lodging, some meals, and of course, the tours. Zero stress, everything was arranged and in place upon our arrival, thanks to Rita's efforts.

This year, we decided to visit Zhangjiajie, and I immediately went through my e-mails to find Rita's contact information. Once again, she did not disappoint me. We had a very tight schedule, but Rita was able to build a flexible itinerary that allowed us to see all the amazing sites we wished to see, in the all too short time we were in Zhangjiajie. Our tour guide, Carrie, was simply the best. She was prompt, professional, knew her way around the National Park, and most importantly, she had a great attitude. She was able to lead us though about 6-10 miles of hiking each day, and skillfully kept us away from the noisy tour groups that invade the area. Again, zero stress, everything was perfectly arranged.

As you can see from the other reviews, China Discovery, is a class operation. Rita's customer service was distinguished and made both trips very easy and pleasurable.

For those considering a visit to China, be aware that there can be some unforeseen challenges (an understatement). Utilizing professional tour consultants such as Rita, and China Discovery, is a very well worthwhile investment.

Hi Rita, I’m on the plane back home now. I will write about our trip on trip advisor, but also tell my friends from the outdoor hiking group to which I belong. You made things so easy for us. I had told my girlfriend that I had worked with you in the past, and she was skeptical (look up this word). We were both very, very pleased with how things worked out. I will send you a copy of what I write, I think Zhangjiajie will because me a major destination for American tourists in the future. Also, while in Beijing, we went to Jinshaling to see the Great Wall. Much better than mutainyu or badaling. I think that will become very popular in coming years.

It took some time to answer, because i had a problem with my computer.

I much enjoyed the time in Zhangjiajie, the park was amazing, tiamen mountain, glassbridge…

Although for me it was a bit short, because of the problems with the flights.

And i know this is not your fault, but because of that i found the tour quiet expensive after everything.

The hotel in the city i stayed in was not ok. Poor hygiene, and the breakfast was horrible, so i don’t know what they charge,

but this is definitely not how it should be for a 3.5 star hotel.

For the rest Wendy was a very good guide, nice transport and good service.

Just a pity i also had some trouble getting home, therefore i ended the trip a bit with negative thoughts about China.

But this has nothing to do with China discovery.

I will recommend your services to other people, but please make a complaint to the hotel,

My standerds are less than other foreigners, so if in the future , you put people there to sleep, you will have more complaints,

i’m sure.

We are back home in sunny Florida and resting from our wonderful trip around China!

We are of course exactly 12 hours behind you and so if 12 noon there, it is Midnight here!

We can’t say enough good things about the tour you arranged for us… all of China was very beautiful and interesting.

If we were to have done anything differently it would have been to spend an extra day at all of the locations just for us to explore on our own some.

All of the guides were exceptionally helpful, informative and also kind hearted.

All of the drivers were obviously very good at their job and we felt safe and in good hands at all times.

We made some mistakes with giving the proper tips to the drivers and guides early on and we probably shorted the first guides and drivers in Hong Kong by about half as we had followed some incorrect tipping information… I wish we could correct that somehow.

As for photos, we have taken way too many… we would be glad to send you a few once we have a little time to review them.

1. Our travel consultant was very fast in the answers of our mails and questions, usually the following day after the reception of the mails.
2. Arrangements are very good and very efficient although we understand that the travel arrangements is a model given to the interested persons but it should considered that the visits on Mondays to museums are not possible and the adjustments made by the guides turn out that some visits were in a hurry and others we got quite a time for us.
3. Definitely. I’m willing to recommend our service to my friends who also have an interest to visit China.
4. We, in general, were very well impressed by the organization of the reception of the guides and transportation and especially by the daily supply of bottles of water. It was very sweet.
5. Although all the guides were, in general, very informative there are discrepancies among them, but, in general, we are satisfied.

We had a great weekend in Chengdu and the trip to see the pandas was an amazing, never to be forgotten experience. Thank you very much for the excellent arrangements and communication. We arrived home last Saturday 15th and have just about got everything back to normal.  Thank you so much for orgnising such a wonderful tour for us.  The guides were all wonderful, knowledgeable and very friendly. They made adaptations to the itinerary to take account of us and the weather.  We missed nothing that we wanted to see.  I hope the Radisson Blu didn't try and charge you for the upgraded room that did not eventuate.  The only problem with the hotel was that the shower was located in the bathtub and it was quite dangerous for any person who did not have a good sense of balance, the bath was quite narrow and high to climb into, I found it difficult to spread my feet for a better stance.  I suggest you ask the hotel in future to accommodate your guests in the Park Tower which is newer and has better bathroom facilities.  This was the only problem we encountered the whole trip.  I would happily recommend your company to people interested in travelling to China.  The accommodation elsewhere was excellent.  I'm attaching some photos for you, hopefully they show our enjoyment as well as some of the highlights.

Surely!

The arrangement was great and we are absolutely satisfied. And we are spreading this to our friends and colleagues

2)     Do you have some suggestions for us to improve our service?

Not all the guides are appropriate.

Diana (Chongqing) was absolutely great. Even if it was involve in a simple transfer, she provided a lot of information and really great support looking for the porter and arranging it to the ship (including the stairs).

The guy at Yichang, replacing Amanda, was too hasty. Providing us limited information, having not the tickets ready and leaving immediately the station after a really quick brief (for example: he informed us about the boarding pass/ticket procedure on the train but we was not informed how to identify the coach).

Joy was not so bad, but not providing many information and not properly informed on the "busy hours". Indeed she was not aware of the opening of the wing suit championship.

Letting us impact quite substantial queues in visiting Tianmen mountain.

All the drivers have been good. The driver in Zhangjiajie was absolutely great (fast, safe and available).

The hotels have been absolutely good and the ship provided a high level accommodation, that was great.

3)     If you come to China again, would you like to use our service again?

We are finally back to Italy.

Thank you for everything. The tour was great. The places we visited were all gorgeous. The guides were ALL very nice people and extremely prepared and helpful. Kimi in Xi’An and Lee in Zhangjiajie were our favorite.

There is only one thing we would like to point out. In Yangshuo we had decided to see the second show at night to have more time for dinner (I have it in my program), but the guide told us that the planning was changed to see the first show at 7 pm, so we had to rush dinner and do everything really fast to see the first show in time. I wondered why we couldn’t see the second show as we arranged before. Anyway, we saw the show and everything was all right.

Maybe we will come to China again in the future, who knows! We will contact you again if we need help!

Apologize for the late reply. Once we got back, schools had started so we are all busy getting ready and adjusting to the new schedule.

We miss China! We really had an amazing time and can't wait to go back and explore different parts of China.

The one suggestion I have is about the meeting point. Maybe your company can set up a meeting point for each cities ahead of time. You can email it couple days before the customers leave for China. For example, meet the tour guide by gate 12 or meet the tour guide by the West gate, etc. So at least the customers will know what to expect.

Other than that, we think everything was wonderful! The food was great, the transportation was convenient, the guides were nice and knowledgeable.

I will pass on a good review to my friends when they need a tour company.

We would highly recommend this service to our friends or anyone else who will be visiting China. China Discovery had excellent service. We booked our tour a little late and we wanted a three day tour in Shanghai and a three day tour in Beijing. Despite that we only booked the tour 2 days in advance, they managed to put together amazing guides who had a lot of knowledge. The guides and drivers were always on time and extremely helpful, nice and easy going.

Honestly, we had a perfect and great experience and there's honestly nothing I can think of that would improve your service. Your service was unbelievable. We did not expect such great service! It made our trip so much easier.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the FABULOUS Chinese tour to Detian Waterfall and Mingshi Scenic area.  We were of course the only western people on the bus.  The guide was wonderful and took very good care of us.  She was sweet and worked very hard to make sure we did not get lost…smile.  We gave her a very nice tip.  The people on the bus were very friendly and we had a wonderful time.  We made some new friends.  The included lunch was lovely and the boat ride down the river in Mingshi was awesome.  The guide on the boat sang to us, the musical show with the kids in Mingshi was very special.  Thank you again very, very much.

Question:  For our Li River Cruise in Guilin, what time will the driver come to our hotel to pick us up?   Let me know and we shall be waiting in the lobby.

I still travel in China. I do have one suggestion regarding organizing the tour. As in your confirmation letter the terminal was not indicated, I had very stressful experience finding it. The dock in Chongqing is huge and the ship was on the other side of it, so not seen at all from the entrance of the dock. I have asked a lot of people about the ship but they couldn’t help me. So it took me almost one hour to find the right  terminal and I was really worried that I could miss the whole cruise.

There is also something you could probably help me with. I have left one shirt in the cabin, which is quite dear to me. Could you probably contact the crew and ask if the shirt can be sent as a package within China?

I would cover the expenses. My cabin was 220.

So it would be great if you could find it out.

All in all, Carmen and I had a good trip.  Our Guide in Shanghai, Daisy Chen, did an outstanding job.  Daisy was enthusiastic, friendly, and very knowledgeable.  We are very glad she was our guide in Shanghai. 

She went out of her way to ensure our trip was enjoyable.  For example, a piece of my eye glass broke off in Chongqing.  When I mentioned that to Daisy, she took it upon herself to have it repaired.   I would appreciate it if you would let her manager know of her excellent service and how much I appreciate it.  Guides, like Daisy, exemplifies what "Service to the customer" means.

On the very last night, I left my camera where I sat during a Tang Dynasty performance.  I am sure it fell to the floor and was maybe kicked under a chair since we did look back to check that we had everything.  When I went back to get it, my camera wasn't there.  Johnny was to check back with the facility (they wanted to view security footage and ask the staff), and get back to me.  He has yet to do so.

Can you ask him to check in please? I understand it may be lost, but I had pictures of our entire trip on that camera. I would be happy with just the SD card!

Of course! We had a WONDERFUL time! Our tour was great and we feel like we really got to see quite a bit in a short period.

I will send a few emails with photos - in case the file size is too large; please feel free to use them and I am happy to be a reference, if needed too.

I want to make special mention of our guide, Eric, in Beijing - he was fantastic ! Our driver also was great in Beijing - we never waited, he was always waiting for us and was a safe driver.

Our guide, Laura, in Shanghai was good but there seemed to be several instances of miscommunication between her and the driver. When we arrived via train we waited for an hour for them to connect and we had to walk through the parking garage to meet the driver. We had to wait several times to be picked up from locations, again, it appeared to be due to miscommunication rather than other problem - they did not appear to have a good understanding Luke Eric and Mr. Lin had in Beijing.  Laura and the Shanghai driver we’re okay, I am just letting you know in case there is something that needs to be adjusted.

Our hotels were beautiful and we enjoyed a truly once in a lifetime trip - thank you for all your help and coordination.

My husband and I have returned from the cruise. Overall, everything went fine and we didnt have diarrhoea.

Two comments :

1. I was disappointed the cruise didn’t pass through the locks of the Three Gorges dam. My brother who went before said it was a fantastic experience.

2. The itinerary on day 4 states at ETA 12:00 "..to enjoy the Xiling gorge.." and ETA 13:30 ..."arrive..Yichang city..."

But after the dam visit at 11am, the tourist guide left the bus and the driver drove us straight to Yichang city. So we missed the Xiling gorge viewing and arrived at Yichang City too early at noon.

I have given your contact to a few cruise passengers I met as I mentioned you provided very good service. They said they have friends who are interested in going for the Yangtze river cruise in future.

Of course I will give a note to Tripadvisor. Both for your company and for your very good service. I have already told several people back home about your company, and I think at least one couple are planning to visit China next year. We are going to invite them for dinner, and then we will tell about our experience, and about your company. I just wondered why is it important not to mention your company’s website or email address? I thought that could be good...

One thing I want to tell you is that it is very important that the guides can speak good English. Most of the guides did speak very fine English, especially good in Chengdu. Both Jessie and David were doing very good in explanation and in speaking English, and the same for nearly all the other guides. But it was a bit harder in Beijing with Cici. She was a wonderful person, but her English was not that good. We struggled a bit for understanding what she was telling. I’m telling this to you now because I want to advise you to not only trust the evaluation form given by the guide herself. It might be difficult for the guest to give negative feedback in front of the same person. So evaluation related to the guide should be asked for in a mail like this. That is my opinion anyway.

As tourist we are very different, I can imagine. Some people like this and others like something else. For us we will rate Guilin as the most spectacular place and Shanghai as the city with lowest interest. We loved the stay in Guilin, and we would advise tourists to spend as many days there as we had. Not less. Shanghai was mostly concrete and steel, buildings and modern city. But of course also gardens and temples. Maria did a very good job there.

And I liked to visit you and your company in Chengdu. It was nice. I love to meet people more than watching buildings and temples. And you confirmed that you were just as nice and clever as my first impression after mailing with you. And thanks for the gifts. I will definitely wear the tie. I’m enclosing some pictures. Hope you like them. And you can use our name and mail if you need someone to be a reference for you or your company.

Purchasing for goods and services online is increasingly becoming second nature to most people with internet access and a credit card.

However, it is still daunting to purchase a large value item even though it should be covered under the credit card providers guarantees. When searching online for a reputable Chinese tour and travel agency to arrange a trip to Tibet, such was my anxiety. That was until I came across Tibetdiscovery.com. I used their web based inquiry form to request information and "Rita" replied to me within 36 hours, being my inquiry was made on a weekend. Rita patiently worked with me on what was available, visa requirements, standards of hotels in Tibet, tour itinerary etc. Together we arrived at ideal tour availability.

After paying for the tour online, the process went very smoothly and Rita gave instructions what was needed from me at each step of the process.

Everything was arranged by Tibetdiscovery.com from visas, flights, transfers from airport to the first hotel, the tour itself which involved air conditioned coaches (bus) to the various places visited over the 8 day period we booked, as well as the other hotels we stayed in along the way.

In regards to the tour itself, on balance it was excellent although we had not realized the lengths of time we would be required to travel in a bus.

Out of the 8 days, a total of 30 hours made up of 6 hours one day, 9 the next going up to the base camp at Mount Everest from Lhasa and the same on the return journey.

The tour guide "Julie" and the driver were both excellent and Julia was extremely well versed in her knowledge of the Dala Lhama's winter palace and all the many temples we visited during the 8 days.

All in all I can recommend Tibetdiscovery.com to anybody looking for a once in a lifetime visit to Tibet and the Chinese side of Mount Everest.

We decided to visit the Guilin region to explore China outside of big cities such as Beijing or Shanghai. All our Chinese friends recommended this visit, so we started looking for a travel agency on the Internet. We found Chengdu Bamboo International Tours Co., Ltd and we were very happy of their service. Their consultant Rita Jiang was extremely efficient and tailored a trip following exactly our wishes and needs. We could choose the hotels we preferred and customise our sightseeing. The agency arranged for us a local guide and driver. We were extremely satisfied by their professionalism and friendliness. The airline company lost one of our suitcases on the way to

Guilin: our guide was very helpful in managing the communication with the airline’s help desks and in retrieving the lost luggage. In addition, the guide was extremely flexible. For instance, she organised a visit to a tea factory and a tour on the Yao mountain by cable car, that were not foreseen by our original tour. During our stay we visited Guilin, Yangshuo and Longsheng. Guilin is a nice small city, very lively and animated. We could enjoy the Elephant trunk hill park and the Reed flute cave, real miracles of nature. We went to Yangshuo by boat, and the cruise was really spectacular. The river is surrounded by high, green mountains. Yangshuo’s countryside has not to be missed, and we could enjoy both a walk along the river and a hike to the top of the Moon hill. We then visited the Longsheng rice terraces, where we could really appreciate the marvellous rice fields and enchanting small villages. It was a real pity to leave, actually. The organization was very good, the people we met very friendly, food was delicious and the landscapes amazing. A very good experience, we really recommend it. We are thankful to Rita and to Chengdu Bamboo agency for organizing this trip and for taking care of us during the whole stay.

My family are heading to Xian in October and I would like to know if you could organise a one day private tour to the Teracotta warriors for us. On the way back I would like to stop at a few spots such as the wild goose pagoda and any other sites that you recommend. I have been to Xian before so we can do the things in the town (wall, bell tower, old street etc) by ourselves.

Hello Rita,

Sorry to take so long to write. I came down with a cold and haven't been feeling well.

All of our expectations were met. Eben was on time and very informative about the city of Chengdu and surrounding areas. He is a very pleasant young man and answered or many questions with very good English. He was very helpful as well at the airport in seeing us off and helping with luggage.

Eben had suggested we go on our free day to the Chengdu Panda Reserve and I am so glad we did. I did not realize that was where the baby panda nursery was so we were able to see the newborns.

The arrangements for the d reserve went very well. It was a lifelong dream of mine to hold a panda. Eben lead us through the reserve and handled the arrangements for the photo.

The restaurant we ate at for lunch was very nice and the food was wonderful!

From there Eben helped us navigate our way through Jingli Street and was very patient as I shopped for gifts and souvenirs.

The taxi driver drove very responsibly and we were able to relax and enjoy the scenery.

If I know of anyone going to China and would like to connect with tours I would definitely recommend you. You were always prompt when responding to questions and very accommodating to our plans and very helpful with the changes we made.

We have returned from our trip to China and I want to provide you with just a few comments.  Overall, we had a good time without any problems. We enjoyed seeing all the sites and being on a "private" tour. We didn't have to wait for other people and were driven close to the entrance of all the sites. 

We liked all the guides (Linda, Waldner, Steven, Diana, Frank and Frank). We liked Steven the best because he was very calm, patient and spoke English well. The drivers were also good. The driver who only drove us back to the hotel from Disney was professional and had a nice car - we wish we had him the entire time in Shanghai.

We did like that all the drivers had bottled water for us. Mr Tang (driver with Linda) was especially prepared with Kleenex, wipes and candy - very nice!

We enjoyed the cruise and were pleased with the arrangements.

We were also very pleased with all the hotels that we stayed in.  Good locations and easy to walk to restaurants for dinner.

Thank you for making our vacation a very enjoyable one.  We definitely liked learning about Chinese history and culture.

Firstly, I wish to apologize in delaying your reply as I became very busy in my office as soon as I arrived back in London. I arrived back on Sunday night 21st August from Hong Kong.

I wish to thank you very very much for all the arrangements that you made for me and my family during the whole China Tour.

The experience was unbelievable and we had a fantastic time in China with all the places we visited and saw and met everyone while on tour.

The Guides and Drivers were very very good and they made our tour even friendlier considering a new country with new language.

The guides helped us everywhere and got what we wanted including good vegetarian food everywhere.

The choice of the 5 Star hotels that you offered were the best I have had so far and their position in the cities were very good within easy reach of town centre as well for us to walk in the evenings. The hotel upgraded all the rooms for us where they were available at no extra cost to us.

The cruise ship was very nice as well and the Chef on board made special vegetarian food for our family at every meal time.

Also, you may have heard that two of our suitcases did not arrive in Beijing from Dubai when we first arrived and all my medicines and hearing aid batteries where inside and I was stranded, but Linda did her best and got me a Hearing Doctor urgently and I managed to get extra batteries for my hearing aid otherwise I would not be able to hear anything at all while in Beijing.  When one of the suitcases arrived in Xian, the guide helped me obtain it from the airport on the morning we were travelling to Guilin. Then the second suitcase arrived in Guilin and the hotel concierge helped to get it from the airport for me.

Overall, your support and guidance on the whole tour was very very good and I will recommend you and your company to whoever i know who wishes to travel to China in future.

My children are busy trying to arrange all the photographs they took while in China and maybe in the near future I will send you some as soon as they complete the photo album.

Hope you are well. Since we left China we have been very busy, thus it took us some time to answer you, sorry about that.

First of all we both would like to thank you very much for everything from the itinerary you prepared, to the help you gave us with any issues that occured during the trip and last but not least for your kindness. We really hope that next time we go to China we visit Chengdu so we can meet. We also hope that by now you have received a postcard we sent to you from Portugal before we left to China :)

For sure we will share our experience with our friends, in fact we have already started to do so with a few friends we have met since we came back.

1. The tour arrangements prepared by Rita were amazing. We cannot think of a better person to plan it or a better plan according to our preferences. Regarding the places visited we enjoyed very much the tour, from the cultural part (visiting ethnic villages) to the history of the Forbidden City and the scenery of the Great Wall and Stone Forest among many others. From all the Hotels we must highlight the Guilin Golden Oriole Hotel, excellent, above and beyond our expectations. From the guides Maria in Shanghai was amazing, but Eric (Beijing), Angela (Xi'an) and Mary (Kunming) were also very good. Even though flexible and overall making an effort to help us we cannot say that Michael did a good job for the reasons discussed in previous emails and promptly clarified by Rita. The meals were very good and we were also very happy with the transportation arrangements. Additionally, the care to our travel arrangements by the guides was impressive and made us feel very comfortable.

3. In our opinion ChinaDiscovery makes a great effort to provide a worriless tour and is very efficient in addressing our worries and problems. Of course this impression is to a great extent due to the amazing work of Rita Jiang.

It was a busy day at work after such a long vacation. I didn't even have time to breathe.

We did share our beautiful pictures and emotions on facebook day by day during our journey, and off course with mentioning about about you and your great supporting.

1. The tour was arranged very well. We felt comfortable and happy all the time.

- The Guide - Mr. Dhargye have a good knowledge about Tibet history and Buddhism, speak English fluently as well. He just need to improve his photo taking skill, lol.

- The Driver is skillful and funny on the way.

Both the Guide and Driver are very helpful.

- Accommodations was ok as we only stay at night.

- Pick up services was excellent for all: Vehicles, Guides and timing. They are very helpful and we was happy with the services.
2. Yes, we did recommend your services to our friends who are planning a trip to Tibet/China after watching out journey. After all, i'll recommend you on tripadvisor also.

We hope you are doing well. Please see our answers below.

The guides, flights, itinerary, hotels, and attractions all worked pretty well. We made a few minor adjustments as we went. A couple days we were too tired to do everything.

The hotels we upgraded to were absolutely wonderful, eg. Temple House, St. Regis, Intercontinental Kunming and Lijiang, Tenino Lamborghini. Also the Sky Valley Boutique Hotel, Songtsam Retreat, and Lin An Hotel were very nice. Our least favorites were the Shilin Yinruilin and the Sheraton Jiuzhaigou.

As you would expect, we enjoyed some things more than others, but overall it was a very interesting trip with a nice mix of cultural and natural attractions. The Shanghai skyline and Suzhou canals, he many temples and monasteries, the other national parks, the Stone Forest, the many local parks and gardens, the markets, the giant Buddha, etc were spectacular.

In total I believe we had 9 local guides. Most were very good and took care of us. The transportation was quite good. We would not recommend Johnny in Dali, perhaps it was just personality.

W would recommend China Discovery.

We think that overall the trip went well. Virtually all of the travel arrangements went as planned and we visited all of the attractions etc. listed in the itinerary. The guides (and drivers) were courteous, knowledgeable, and for the most part helpful.

Your tour guide, Waldner, and driver in Xi'an were exceptional and the Sofitel hotel was very nice and in a perfect location for visitors.

The Century Paragon was a great experience for us as well, as they balanced the need to entertain and feed western and Chinese passengers perfectly. The ships facilities were very nice, as the boat is relatively new.

All of our agreed arrangements worked out perfectly, and when the low river level in Chongqing changed our plans, your team worked quickly to get us back on track.

1. Your service regarding the tour arrangement was effective and kind. You had a fast and clear communication during the process of organizing the tour; showed good flexibility regarding the arrangements; overall the organization was perfect, everything was well organized as planned, so we could really have a smooth and hassle free tour.
2. Definitively yes. We are already recommending you to our friends, shall they wish to visit China. 
3. Our overall opinion is clearly positive. It would have been a challenge for us to travel to China by ourselves, and with your organization and our local guides we had a wonderful experience. We could enjoy a smooth and well-planned tour, but still we had the opportunity to get to know and be close to the local culture.
4. Our suggestion is that you keep the good work, taking care of your customers so that they can enjoy and take the most out of their tour. And if we come back to China, we will probably be interested in doing some more hiking, and it would be great if you can also arrange tours fully dedicated for a complete hiking experience.

Thank you for sending a follow up email. I've been back from China for one week now and have been very busy at work, so I haven't had time to write to you.

I'd be happy to answer your questions and give you feedback on our tour experience. Below are my answers to your questions.

We had no problems at all with the arrangements of our Tibet tour. The guide and driver were always on time and never late. The itinerary went as planned and we had no problems on the road.

Hi Rita.

Back home safely. It was a great trip over all. Here are some observations. There were so many places we visited I may have some of them mixed up.

Dorsett Hotel in Shanghai was excellent. ($75/night)Well located across from Park where we spent a nice afternoon on bike and boat, saw some weddings, and in the evening a great fireworks show for the National holiday. Our visit during the holiday period made everything more crowded, particularly traffic and attractions.

Next day we took subway to town, very clean and easy for tourists and inexpensive. Visited shopping street, Museum ( good explanation of Chinese cultural history). Dined at local restaurant.

Next day tour started. Anna was very good and informative, but rain made outdoor sights and Bund stroll poor. Liked the Museum of Shanghai history in the tower and the tea ceremony very much. Also visit to Pearl factory.

Next day good flight to Chongqing. Boarding vessel delayed till 9pm so had a very good tour of the city and museums and a nice dinner ashore. Oliver was an outstanding tour guide. Best of all of them. River cruise was great in all respects.

In Yichang Fay met us . Flight was scheduled late at night so all lot of time to fill. Yet another Museum visit and another silk embroidery shop were not very interesting but the luncheon was the best. Helga had a nice massage. Fay was a good informative guide. Arrival in Beijing our driver to the hotel arrived about 45 minutes late...we nearly hired a taxi.

The group tours in Beijing were only average. There were big crowds everywhere because of the holidays so we missed Tianamen Square and did not see as much of the Forbidden City as I had seen previously. Also the best parts of the Summer Palace were missed on the short stop there. We liked the visit to the Great Wall which was at a more distant location than on my previous visit. I have a walking problem so the Cab!e Car was helpful. More visits to a Jade factory and a Herbal Medicine pharmacy made it seem that all the tours were designed to try to sell us something. The heavy air pollution made it difficult to see much of the taller towers.

We had more fun in the last two days after the tour was over when we went to the Walking Street near the hotel, watched the line dancing on the street, ate at the nighttime food stalls and spent time meeting people and talking about how they lived. Took the subway to Summer Palace for a second and much better visit than on the tour.j

Be sure to warn foreign visitors that the weight limit on domestic flights is 20 kg while on international flights it is 23kg.

Visitors have an impression of China that is probably not realistic and I would like a tour to spend more time introducing us to what it is like to live day to day in China with a different form of Government than in the West and a different lifestyle. Thus I would have enjoyed spending a quiet day with you learning what you believe and experience as a citizen of China compared to my life. That was my tour guide offered on my previous visit many years ago.

I think I would like my children to visit China when they can afford it in time and money. ( perhaps their Inheritance from me). I hope you will try to stay in touch with them as future customers (but they may not respond).

"My family (3 children ages 19, 18, 14) and wife wanted to visited China so after searching the internet we found this company China Discovery (Chengdu). Who put a proposal together for a 10 day (12 nights with flights from and to London).

At first when I got the responses back I was a bit dubious due to the need to pay via paypal, bank transfer or western Union. I couldn't have been further from the truth. I booked a trip that would take me around Beijing, Xian, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Two plane journey's, 1 bullet train journey, daily private car (large people carrier), etc. with all events, hotel and Lunch paid.

I would say I have contacted Rita about 100 times!! including several changes during the holiday itself (e.g. I wanted to cut down on the amount of temples I had seen, etc) and all answered promptly.

All my guides (we had one per city) spoke very good English and had great knowledge about the various locations we visited. We had Lisa, Lee, Laura and Matthew.

The holiday was totally flexible e.g. we were tired on some days and just requested that we started later on certain days or we wanted to change the section of the wall we visit, or cut out another museum, etc, etc. We were in complete control of the itinerary.

What can I say. I rate this 10 out of 5!!!! By far the best travel agency we have been with, value was brilliant as you can suggest changes for better or more economical alternatives.

Last don't believe what people say about China (if bad) as the place was clean, people dressed immaculately, food was great, people were the friendliest we have met on a holiday. We must have had photos with 50 plus people!!

I may sound like Im working for the company... I do not. This holiday cost me lots (with 5 adults) so I would definitely complain if anything was wrong. If I go back to China (as this was an epic journey in itself) I will 100% choose China Discovery again."

We were back to Sunny California and recovered from our jet lag now. 

All in all it was a great trip, excellent scenery and historical sites plus we had wonderful trip planner and tour guides. We all enjoyed it very much.

This is what I wrote on TripAdvisor. "I am only addressing the organizing of a customized tour of the Hunan province of China.

I totally lucked out as I found the most astonishingly responsive, capable and so nice travel agent I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. Rita Jiang of China Discovery out of Chengdu. I sent out the same email to 3 companies who arrange custom tours to China.

I wrote them where I had been on my previous 2 trips to China, my age and my physical condition - which is excellent. I wrote I wanted to travel alone seeing the great sight of Hunan and listed a number of places I wanted included and that I wanted to spend approximately 17-19 days on this tour.

The very next day I got a fully described day by day itinerary along with hotels, type of transportation and guides and the complete price for this 15 day trip. Rita made suggestions as to what other sights I might want to include to bring the trip up to 19 days. I looked up all the places she described on line as well as the 5 star hotels she included.

I wrote back that evening asking how much I would save staying in 4 star hotels, and information on including the places she recommended seeing outside of Hunan. Next day again got all the details including travel arrangements getting there. Next I asked her to arrange my domestic and international air as well. Again the next day an email from Rita with the Domestic flights & their costs. She urged me to get my own International flights she said I'd do better with the price than she could arrange.

I then asked she detail the length of getting from one sight to the next for each day. Again next day all info furnished. When I saw that the train travel involved in seeing those sights outside of Hunan were 14 & another 21 hours long and they involved sharing a 4 person sleeping compartment, I wrote back saying I would skip those sights and just go to Shanghai & stay there for 3 days. Would she please inform me what the new price would be. The only time I did not hear the next day is over a weekend. Her responses were unfailingly complete very friendly and I am looking forward to the trip of a lifetime.

Re the other 2 companies I had sent the original email request - one wrote back about 4 days later and said they were trying to get information from their Chinese vendor. Never heard from them again. The other sent me a totally incomplete itinerary about a week after I sent out my request. It came without no hotels, no prices or info on transportation etc. I wrote back saying I found their response was inadequate. They said I needed to supply more details.

As I said I feel I completely lucked out. My next post will be to let you know if the trip measures up to the marvelous agent who has put it all together."
