Shenzhen Airport (Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport)
Shenzhen Airport (IATA: SZX, ICAO: ZGSZ), short for Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (深圳宝安国际机场), is one of the four busiest airports in China as well as one of the three largest airport hubs serving the Pearl River Delta, alongside Hong Kong International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Shenzhen Airport is located on the east bank of the Pearl River in Bao’an District, about 45 kilometers (28 miles) northwest of the city center of Shenzhen. T3 terminal is the only terminal in use at present.

Get from Shenzhen Airport to City Center
By Metro:
Getting from Shenzhen Airport to the new downtown area in Futian District, travelers can take metro Line 11 which hop on the subway from Airport Station to Futian Station (福田站) directly. It is about 32 kilometers for 40 minutes. If you want to go to the old downtown area in Luohu District, you should first take Line11 to Chegongmiao Station (车公庙站) and change to Line 1 to get off Laojie Station (老街站), which is around 40 kilometers for 70 minutes.
By Taxi:
If you go by taxi instead of metro, it will take about 1-1.5 hours to get to the old downtown area in Luohu District (around 40 kilometers) and it takes about 1 hour to the new downtown area in Futian District (around 35 kilometers’ driving distance).
By Shuttle Bus:
Shuttle buses are available between Shenzhen Airport and the city center area. Travelers can take shuttle bus Line 1 to Shenhang Mansion (深航大厦), Hualian Mansion (华联大厦), Shenzhen Railway Station (深圳火车站). It costs around CNY 20/pp for 40 minutes’ driving for the whole journey. Besides, Line 2, Line 3 and Line 4 takes you to different places in Shenzhen.

By Train
Taking high speed train to Shenzhen is a very popular way to reach Shenzhen, with great comfort and convenience. No matter you travel within Guangdong Province to Shenzhen or from other destinations all over China, Shenzhen is well linked by train. You can go to Shenzhen from Guangzhou (0.5 hour), Hong Kong (14 minutes), Zhuhai (2 hours), Shanghai (8-11.5 hours), Beijing (8-11.5 hours), Guilin (3 hours), Yangshuo (2.5 hours), Guiyang (5-5.5 hours), Xian (9.5 hours), Xiamen (3-3.5 hours), Changsha (3-3.5 hours), Wuhan (4.5-5 hours) and more cities in China.
There are altogether five train stations in Shenzhen, called Shenzhen Railway Station, Shenzhen North Railway Station, Shenzhen Futian Railway Station, Shenzhen West Railway Station, and Shenzhen East Railway Station. Among them, Shenzhen Railway Station, Shenzhen North and Futian Station are mainly used. Different trains from different cities will arrive at different station. Shenzhen Railway Station
Chinese Name: 深圳火车站 or 罗湖火车站
Address: No. 1003, Jianshe Road, Luohu District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province (广东省深圳市罗湖区建设路1003号)
Shenzhen Railway Station, also called Luohu Railway Station, has about 200 high speed trains from/to Guangzhou everyday. The station is located across from Luohu Commercial City and north of the border from Hong Kong in a north-south alignment. The Guangshen Railway joins the East Rail Line in Hong Kong just south of the station, where Lo Wu Station on the Hong Kong MTR is located. Metro Line 1 are connecting Shenzhen Railway Station with Windows of the World, Shenzhen Airport and places in Futian District and Luohu District. Metro Line 9 is close to the station where can take you to different places in Shenzhen.

Shenzhen North Railway Station
Chinese Name: 深圳北站
Address: No.28 Zhiyuan Middle Road, Longhua District, Shenzhen, Guangdong (广东省深圳市龙华区致远中路28号)
Shenzhen North Railway Station has over 450 high speed trains running through. Travelers can go from/to Hong Kong, Guilin, Shanghai, Xiamen, Kunming, Nanjing, Fuzhou, Chaoshan, Huizhou, etc. Located in the north of Shenzhen City, it is about 10 kilometers from the new downtown in Futian and about 14 kilometers from the old downtown in Luohu District. Metro Line 4 and Line 5 can take you from Shen North to different area in Shenzhen.

Shenzhen Futian Railway Station
Chinese Name: 深圳福田火车站
Address: Crossroad of Fuhua Road and Yitian Road, Futian District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province (广东省深圳市福田区福华一路与益田路交叉口)
Shenzhen Futian Railway Station is an important station on the Guangzhou - Shenzhen - Hong Kong Express Rail Link and the final station on mainland China before the train enters Hong Kong. Everyday, there are over 30 high speed train running between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Futian Station, with only 14 minutes needed. It is located in the center of new downtown area with very convenient location. Metro Line 2, Line 3 and Line 11 are nearby taking you to different places in Shenzhen.

Shenzhen East Railway Station
Chinese Name: 深圳东站
Address: No.94 Jihua Road, Longgang District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province (广东省深圳市龙岗区吉华路94号)
Shenzhen East Railway Station is located northeast of Shenzhen, about 12 kilometers to the new downtown area in Futian. It offers slower trains (like K and Z trains) to some cities of China, like Zhengzhou, Jinan, Zhangjiajie, Kunming, Tianjin, Chengdu. Since high speed trains are connected Shenzhen with most tourist destinations in China well, it is not recommended to use Shenzhen East Railway Station to take the slow train. Metro Line 5 and Line 3 are running through that you can go to Shenzhen downtown area by metro.
Shenzhen West Railway Station
Chinese Name: 深圳西站
Address: the Junction of Xufu Road adn Yueliangwan Avenue, Nanshang District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province (深圳市南山区学府路与月亮湾大道交会处)
Shenzhen West Railway Station is located in the west of Shenzhen, about 20 kilometers from the new downtown area. It offers few and limited trains to other parts of Guangdong and some other Chinese provinces. Travelers can take K trains from/toHefei, Lanzhou, Taiyuan, Chengdu, Chongqing, etc. It is not recommended to use this train station for the slow speed. Metro Line 11 is linked with Shenzhen West to other parts of Shenzhen.

By Long-Distance Bus
There are about 17 bus stations offering long distance coaches to everywhere within Guangdong Province and China. Among them, the frequently used stations are Yinhu Bus Station, Luohu Bus Station, Futian Bus Station and Huanggang Bus Station. From these bus stations, travelers can take long distance coaches to Guangzhou (1.5-2 hours), Zhuhai (about 1 hour), Hong Kong (about 2 hours), Foshan (about 2 hours), Shunde (around 2 hours), Jiangmen (about 2 hours), Kaiping (about 2.5 hours), etc.
Shenzhen Yinhu Bus Station
Chinese Name: 银湖汽车站
Address: No. 2008, Shangbu North Road, Luohu District, Shenzhen (深圳市罗湖区上步北路2008号银湖大厦), about 6 kilometers northeast of new downtown in Futian.
Destinations: Yinhu Bus Station offers numerous coaches to many places, including Guangzhou, Meizhou, Zhuhai, Macau, Foshan, Qingyuan, Zhanjiang, Huizhou, Jiangmen, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing and so on. Prices vary based on different places.
Shenzhen Luohu Bus Station
Chinese Name: 罗湖汽车站
Address: F1, Luohu Commercial City, Guangchang Road, Luohu District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province (深圳市罗湖区广场路罗湖商业城1楼)
Destinations: Luohu Bus Station has many buses running within Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macau Greater Bay Area, like Zhongshan, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Foshan, Macau, Kaiping, Jiangmen, Zengcheng, Zhanjiang. For short distance within greater bay area, taking coach is also a good choice.

Address: No.8003, Shennan Avenue, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province (深圳市深南大道8003号)
Destinations: Futian Bus Station has coaches to/from Guangzhou, Hong Kong Airport (06:30-20:30, every 20 minutes), Kong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui (06:30-19:30, every 30 minutes), Zhuhai (07:20-20:50, every 20 minutes), Humen, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing (07:30-18:30, every 1 hour), Meizhou (10:30, 13:00), Zhongshan (07:35-20:25, every 40 minutes), Maoming, Xiamen, Panyu (07:30-19:00, every 1 hour), Shunde (07:20-19:50, every 40 minutes), Guilin, Haikou and more places.
Huanggang Bus Station
Chinese Name: 皇岗汽车站
Address: Junction of Baihe Road and No.3 Baihe Road, Futian District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province (深圳市福田区百合路与百合三路交叉口)
Destinations: Long distance coaches are very limited at Huanggang Bus Station. Travelers can go from/to Macau (08:20-21:15, every 1 hour), Dongguan, Changping, etc.

By Ferry
It is convenient to travel from Hong Kong, Macau, Zhuhai and other places to Shenzhen by ferry. Shenzhen has two mainly used ports - Shekou Ferry Terminal (蛇口客运码头) and Fuyong Ferry Terminal (福永客运码头).
● Hong Kong Airport (香港机场客运码头) - Shenzhen Shekou Ferry Terminal: Everyday, there are ferries running at 08:15, 09:50, 11:00, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30, 18:30, 19:30, 20:30, 21:20 and 21:50 from Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen. It takes about half an hour to get from Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen Shekou Port. The ticket for a normal seat is CNY180/pp.
● Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal (香港港澳客运码头) - Shenzhen Shekou Ferry Terminal: There are 9 ferries sailing at 10:00, 11:30, 13:15, 14:20, 15:30, 17:00, 18:00, 19:45 and 20:30 from Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal to Shekou. It needs about 70 minutes. The ticket for a normal seat is CNY 145/pp.
● Zhuhai Jiuzhou Ferry Terminal (珠海九洲客运码头) - Shenzhen Shekou Ferry Terminal: With over 25 ferries sailing from Zhuhai Jiuzhou to Shenzhen Shekou, it is a good choice to get from Zhuhai to Shenzhen by ferry. You can choose your time during 08:30-21:30. It takes about 1 hour. The ticket for a normal seat is CNY 140/pp.
● Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal (澳门氹仔客运码头) - Shenzhen Shekou Ferry Terminal: There are 9 ferries running from Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal to Shenzhen Shekou. You can choose among 08:30, 10:45, 12:30, 14:00, 14:30, 15:30, 17:30, 18:30 and 20:30. It needs about 70 minutes and the ticket for a normal seat is CNY 210/pp.
● Macau Outer Ferry Terminal (澳门外港客运码头) - Shenzhen Shekou Ferry Terminal: Compared with the ferries at Taipa, the ferries running at Outer Ferry Terminal are more, about 13 everyday. It runs during 09:30-21:00. It needs about 70 minutes and the ticket for a normal seat is CNY 210/pp.

The driving distance from Guangzhou to Shenzhen is about 137km (85 miles) and the direct distance is about 103km (64 miles). Usually, to travel from Guangzhou to Shenzhen, the travelers on business travel will hire a private car (about 1.5-2.5 hours) or take a train (0.5-3.5 hours). Other tourist travelers also like the trains and cars most, but aside from that, sometimes they may also choose a bus (about 1.5-4 hours) or a taxi (about 1.5-2.5 hours).

Hong Kong to Shenzhen
Shenzhen is the right next door to Hong Kong, with a short flight distance for only about 38km (24 miles) and the driving distance is about 50km (31 miles). Due to the close distance between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, there is no direct flight running between the two cities, and you are not suggested to make a transfer at other cities. At present, travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen needs about 15-20 minutes by bullet train, 0.5-2 hours by MTR and metro, 1-1.5 hours (50 km) by car, 1-4 hours by coach and 0.5-1 hours by ferry.

Macau to Shenzhen
Shenzhen is located in the northeast of Macau and the direct distance is about 60km. Most people traveling from Macau to Shenzhen take ferry, private car and high speed train. There are two terminals from Macau to Shenzhen - Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal and Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal. You will arrive at Shenzhen Shekou Ferry Terminal or Shenzhen Fuyong Ferry Terminal. It takes about 70 minutes for the ferry. If you go by train, you should first arrive at Zhuhai Railway Station and then catch the high speed train to Shenzhen North Railway Station. It takes about 2 hours or more.

Get Around Shenzhen
By Subway
Taking subway to move around in Shenzhen is very convenient for the metro almost linking with every destination you want to go. Till now, there are altogether 8 lines in operation - Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4, Line 5, Line 7, Line 9 and Line 11. Trains come every 3 minutes or so and the metro runs until 11pm. Fares are CNY 2-9.
Metro Line 1 runs between Shenzhen Airport and Luohu Station, which means you can go directly from Shenzhen Airport to Shenzhen Railway Station, Luohu Port or Luohu Commercial City. Metro Line 2 takes you to Window of the World and Shenzhen Railway Station and Luohua Port as well as Luohu Commercial City and Futian Railway Station. Metro Line 3 goes to Dafen and Futian Railway Station. Metro Line 4 has stations to Futian Checkpoint and Shenzhen North Railway Station. Metro Line 5 can send you to Shenzhen North Railway Station. Metro Line 7 has stations to Huangguang Checkpoint and Ping’an Finance Center. Metro Line 9 has designed stations to Shenzhen Bay Park while Metro Line 11 can send you Futian Railway Station and Shenzhen Airport.

Getting around Shenzhen by taxi is the easiest way. There are two kinds of taxis distinguished by their color, one is blue taxi and the other is red taxi. Taxi meters start at CNY 10 for the first 2 kilometers, then CNY 2.6 for each kilometer. Late night costs slightly higher. Check the following prices between two places for your reference.
