On this day, drive 1.5-2 hours to Shidong or Laotun to enjoy the Sisters’ Meal Festival in the local Miao villages. Sisters’ Meal Festival is known as the oldest oriental Valentine’s Day. The Miao people celebrate it on the fifteenth of the third lunar month and it often lasts 3 days.
During the festival, visitors could enjoy a dazzling display of local dress, meaningful ceremonies and interesting activities including bullfighting, cockfighting, horse racing, clamor of drums, singing and dancing performance, Miao girls’ Beauty Contest and of course eat the colorful stick rice.
In the afternoon, head for Zhenyuan with 1.5 hours’ drive. Zhenyuan is a tranquil thousand-year Miao people’s ancient town hidden in east Guizhou, surrounded by mountains and rivers. Enjoy some leisure time to explore the old streets, old temples, old bridges...Stay overnight in Zhenyuan.

After Breakfast, explore Zhenyuan by visiting Qinglong Cave (Black Dragon Cave) which located at the foot of Zhonghe Mountain and along the banks of Wuyang River. Actually, Qinglong Cave is not just a cave but with six groups of buildings including multi-storied pavilions, temples, shrines, palaces. Visitors could not only view natural scenery but also appreciate the architecture art. Enjoy yourselves in the culture museum of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
In the afternoon, drive back to Shidong to attend the Sisters’ Meal Festival and enjoy some more activities.
After that, drive back to Kaili.

After breakfast, have in-depth exploration about Miao's history and culture in and around Kaili.
First, drive to Matang Village where you can see Gejia group who are not listed into 55 minority groups in China just because of their small population. You will appreciate the traditional Gejia batik in the village, and learn the art of batik.
Later, proceed to visit Qingman Village, where the women wear a kind of traditional short-skirt. In a local household, you may see the traditional way of dying cotton material. The last stop of today is Shiqiao Miao Village. In Shiqiao, you’ll see the old people still keep their old tradition of making special paper with trees’ bark by hand, which could be dated back to 700 years in Guizhou.
After the tour, drive to Xijiang. Enjoy the beautiful night view of Xijiang Miao Village. Stay overnight in Xijiang.
(Note: Our private car can only be parked at the entrance of Xijiang Miao Village. Travelers should take your luggage and transfer to a sightseeing bus to your hotel located in the village.)

After breakfast, have exploration in Xijiang Miao Village, the largest Miao village in Asia, with more than 1000 Miao households. While walking on the paths, you will appreciate an amazing view of the river valley with terraced fields, intricate wooden houses, enjoy Miao’s traditional clothing, daily life and join to sing and dance.
After the tour, drive 2.5 hours to Guiyang and be escorted to Guiyang Airport to catch your flight to next destination.

This is a very short customised arrangement during which the China border is not fully opened yet.
China Discovery charges a premium though, but it delivered without fail.
The VOA is very new to even the custom officers who were on duty when I cleared the immigration check at Shenzhen as well as the HK side. I must say that the agent did his professional service by always on the call to allow on-site changes of my arrival time because immigration clearance was so unpredictable. I can be assured that someone is just outside the arrival hall to pick me up and, I could tell the immigration officer that my local contact person is just waiting outside to pick me once I am cleared with this new procedure.
It is always safer to have a local contact to guide you and make arrangements for your local transfer when language ( Cantonese instead of Mandarin) is a problem in China .
