1. The entry function of visas which were issued before March 28, 2020 and still valid will be restored.

2. Overseas visa offices will resume issuing various types of visas (including Tourist Visa) for foreigners to travel to China, with specific requirements detailed in the visa application guidelines of Chinese embassies or consulates.

3. Port visa offices will resume issuing various types of port visas for lawful purposes.

4. The policies of visa-free entry for Hainan, Shanghai International cruise arrival, Guangdong for Tourist group entry of foreigners from Hong Kong, Macau, and ASEAN tourist groups entering Guilin, Guangxi will be restored.

Who Need A China Visa

① Do you need a visa to visit China?

Usually most foreigners traveling to mainland China require a visa, except those who meet China Visa Free Policy, such as Singaporean, Bruneian and Japanese citizens (ordinary passport holders) enjoys visa-exempted visit to China for tourism, business and visiting family and friends for no longer than 15 days, transiting travelers applying 24-Hour, 72-Hour and 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit, etc.

② Do I need a visa to go to China for a week?

For a week-long trip, a China Visa is not needed, if you’re in one of the three situations: 1.) if you hold ordinary passport of Singapore, Brunei and Japan, you can visit China for 15 days at maximum; 2.) if you are citizen of Fiji, Tango, Grenada, and all 14 countries signed mutual visa exemption with China, you can get to and stay in China for 30 days to 90 days depending on your nationality; 3.) if you are citizens of appointed countries, you’re allowed to stay in Hainan Province for up to 30 days without visa. Otherwise, you shall apply and get a visa to enter China before arrival.
③ Do I need a visa to visit China for 3 days?

Like mentioned above, you should check to figure out if you are eligible for China’s Visa Free Policy. And then start a visa application if do need one.
④ Do UK citizens need a visa for China?

UK citizens having a layover in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and other valid cities and meeting relevant requirements may get transit visa exemption for 24 hours, 72 hours (3 days) or 144 hours (6 days). Meanwhile, British trip to Sanya (Hainan) only can also get visa free entry, so does cruise tour groups to Shanghai. Others are required to get a visa for China prior to departure.
⑤ Does Malaysian passport need visa to China?

You don’t have to get a visa if you are granted a Temporary Entry Permit under China’s Transit Without Visa (TWOV) program, free entry to Hainan, qualified cruise group tour to Shanghai, or other visa free policy of China. Or else, you shall apply and obtain a valid visa for entry.
⑥ Is visa required for Singaporean to China?

Singaporeans are visa exempted if holding valid ordinary passport to China for tour, business and meeting family and friends within 15 days.
Visit with diplomatic, service passport, and for other purposes like study, working or overstaying in China, needs applying a China Visa.

⑦ Do you need a visa to go to Shanghai?

Shanghai offers 24-Hour & 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit and 15-Day Visa-Free Shore Excursion Tour for foreign cruise tour groups.
Singaporeans, Bruneians, Japanese don’t need a visa to Shanghai for travel, business, and certain purposes. Same to people from 14 mutual visa exempted countries.

⑧ Do I need a visa to visit the Great Wall of China?

Great Walls have many different sections in China, stretching from Jiayuguan is Gansu in the west to east end Shanhaiguan in Hebei Province. The most famous and major parts are Mutianyu & Badaling Great Walls in Beijing, Jinshanling in Hebei Province and so on. About Hong Kong SAR Visa

Q1: Do I need visa to visit or transit in Hong Kong?

Hong Kong SAR provide visa-free transit and entry permit to citizens of 170 foreign countries (including US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand..) from 7 days to 180 days, if the purpose of visit is for short-term transit or tour.
While if you have the long term stay or the purpose of work, study, or taking up residence, then you must obtain a Hong Kong Visa before entry.

Q2: Can I enter Hong Kong with a China Visa?

Hong Kong is a special administrative region from mainland China, which owns separate immigration policy. So, holding a China Visa is not applicable for entry to Hong Kong. You should check the Hong Kong Visa Rule to find out whether you can visit Hong Kong visa free or need to apply for a pre-arrival visa.
Q3: Do Indian Passport Holders require a visa for Hong Kong?

Indian citizens can get to and stay in Hong Kong without visa for 14 days. But a online registration before arrival is required for Indians.

Q5: What are the documents required for Hong Kong visa?

The visa application documents slightly differs from which type you will apply. For a Hong Kong Tourist Visa, you have to get these ready: original passport (with a validity of at least 6 months left), filled Visa Application Form (ID 1003A), 2 recently-taken photos, photocopy of your passport data page, travel related documents (including air ticket confirmation and hotel reservation...).

Q6: How much is Hong Kong Visa fee?

Where you submit makes the visa fees different. Take a Tourist Visa as example, application to Chinese Embassy abroad charges USD 30 visa free plus USD 25 visa correspondence fee to Hong Kong Immigration Department. You will only pay HKD 230 if send material directly to the local HK Immigration Department.

The application normally takes about 4 working days. However, it would take at least 4 weeks long if it is transferred to local HK Immigration Department to be processed.

Macau offers visa-free entry to citizens of 79 foreign countries, American, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand, Singapore are included.

About Tibet Travel Permit - Tibet Visa

⒈ Do I need a visa to visit Tibet?

Besides a valid China Visa, all non-Chinese passport holders are required to get a Tibet Visa (officially called Tibet Travel Permit, Tibet Entry Permit, Tibet Tourism Bureau Permit -TTB Permit) for visit Tibet. More permits (such as Aliens’ Travel Permit, Border Pass, Military Permit) will be needed if you want to go to Everest, Mt.Kailash, Shigatse, Nyingchi, and places beyond Lhasa.

⒉ Is passport required for Tibet?

Of course, a passport is required whenever you travel in Tibet. It will be checked before boarding a train or flight to Tibet, and frequently checked at checkpoints in Tibet.
⒊ Do Indians need a visa for Tibet?

Yes, Indians visiting Tibet as regular tourist have to obtain a Tibet Travel Permit. Special pilgrim group tour to sacred Mt.Kailash and Manasarovar Lake will go a complicated official procedures through authorized travel agency.

⒍ How do I get a visa for Tibet?

Foreigners are not allowed to travel in Tibet independently, nor to apply Tibet Visa in person. The tour must be organized by a authorized local travel agency, like China Discovery. Only licensed travel agency can apply the Tibet Visa for foreigner visitors.

▷ How to apply for a China (Tourist/L) Visa?

▷ How do I get a visa for Beijing?

If you want to apply for a regular visa for Beijing, the procedure goes the same as above. But, transit passengers may get 6-day layover tour in Beijing without visa.
▷ Where do I get China Visa?

According to different regulations, foreigners can apply China Visa directly to overseas Chinese Embassy or Consulate, or through authorized China Visa Application Service Center (CVASC). It depends on which country you submit application.
For example: Americans submit to Chinese Embassy or Consulate, British, Canadians, Australians, Singaporeans submit to CVASC.

Basic documents are the same for each type, and the supporting documents vary from the visa category.
Basic documents include:

The application process generally takes three to five working days and if you are in hurry, you can choose express service or rush service with extra pay to shorten the time to 1-2 days. Certain applicants may get Same Day Visa approved in extreme urgency.

▷ How does a British citizen get a visa for China?

British citizens should fill in digital application form and make appointment online, prepare required documents, and bring them all and submit to the CVASC at the appointed time. Pay visa fee after application accepted.

Usually it is recommended to submit the application one month prior to your planned entry date of China.
▷ Can I get a visa on arrival in China?

Nigerians should submit application to China Visa Application Service Center in Abuja or Lagos. So the total cost= visa fee + center service fee.

There is no way China Visa simply obtained online. Only some citizens are allowed to complete application form online.

Only applicants in Australia are allowed to mail application materials to China Visa Application Service Center. (So, the postal application needs longer processing time than appling in other countries.)
Others should apply for China Visa in person or by some else.
▷ Can someone else pick up China Visa?

Yes, as long as the person or agent get your approve. They can submit and collect China Visa for you. Better write a power of attorney, give he/she the pick-up slim and information needed for collection.
▷ Why are China Visa so expensive?

China Visa Application Fee is charged by nationality under the principle of reciprocity. If you submit to China Visa Application Service Center, extra service fees will be charged by the center.

The 72-Hour Visa actually refers to 72-Hour Transit Visa Free in China. Here are simple steps to get:
Inform the air/cruise company your request to apply (when boarding) --> fill in blue-colored Arrival Card --> go to 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit Counter - -> fill in application form and submit --> get a Temporary Entry Permit stamped on passport --> go through immigration formalities and leave the airport/cruise terminal.

Except special passport and certificate holders, Beijing has 24-Hour & 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit Policies for visitors who come from 53 countries, hold leaving tickets to a third country/region. Namely, the transit travelers don’t need a transit visa to enter Beijing.

If you hold passport of Singapore, Brunei and Japan, you can travel freely to most Chinese cities.
If you enter China by apply Transit Without Visa, you are allowed to stay in permitted administrative areas only. Take 144-Hour TWOV as example, entry from Beijing, you can visit Beijing, Tianjin and any city in Hebei Province, entry from Shanghai, you can visit Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and any cities in Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces.

- How long can I stay in China without a visa?

The exact duration of stay per entry is determined by which policy you used to enter China.
Citizens of San Marino, Bosnia and Herzegovina, (mutual visa exemption countries) can stay in China without visa for up to 90 days.
15 days for Singaporean, Bruneians and Japaneses.
30 days in Hainan for nationals of 59 countries.

When you successfully get your China Visa on passport, the Number of Entry stamped with a ”M (多)” means your visa is a multiple-entry visa. It allows you enter China many times during the validity.

④ Where to check the Chinese visa validity period, number of entries and duration of each stay?

There are three numbers of entries: single-entry; double-entry and multiple-entry. Visa usually start to be valid from the issuance date, and most common validity is 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and a longer 1 year, 2 year, 5 or 10 years.
After getting a China Visa, all important information are clearly stamped on the visa page, where you must check carefully. Visa validity begins from “Issue Date” to the “Enter Before”. For “Entries”, “01(壹)” refers to single entry, “02 (贰)” means double entries and “M (多)” represents multiple entries.

⑤ How long can you stay in China with a visa?

The “Duration of Each Stay” is marked on the visa page with a fixed number of days. That is how many days you can stay in China per entry.
Holders of China long-term visa (X1, J1...) shall apply a Residence Permit after entry, and they can stay accordance with the duration permitted on the Residence Permit.

☞ What happens if your visa expires in China?/ Can I stay in China after my visa expires?

Always remember to check the China Visa validity.
Better exit China before it expires. Illegal stay will be punished and cause serious trouble for future visiting to China.
If you want to overstay, make sure get visa extended 7 days prior to expiration date.
☞ How do I extend my Chinese visa?

Foreigners who want to stay in China beyond the duration of their visa need to apply for an extension at the Exit and Entry Administration office of the municipal Public Security Bureau where you stay in. You should provide the materials of valid passport and visa and a completed visa extension application form at least 7 days prior to the visa expiry date.
Note: (1) the length of the extension depends on the type of visa; (2) the Chance to get the extension in China is slim, so you should try to avoid that happens.

☞ What to do if I lost passport with China Visa?

Try your best to find it.
Not found. So here is 4 major steps for you.
Step 1: report the loss to local police station;
Step 2: apply "Confirmation of Reporting the Loss of Passport" in the Exit & Entry Administration of local Public Security Bureau;
Step 3: apply for a replacement passport or temporary passport for urgent use;
Step 4: apply for a new China Visa from the Public Security Burea for continuous travel or returning home.
