Travel around Xiamen
Visitors can travel around Xiamen by metro, taxi and car. Xiamen has 2 metro lines. There are metro stations settled close to Xiamen North Railway Station and Xiamen International Cruise Terminal, etc. And it is usually easy to find a taxi on the Xiamen streets. Fujian Tulou are mainly scattered in the mountainous region in Nanjing County and Huaan County of Zhangzhou City and Yongding District of Longyan City in Fujian. The Tulou clusters in Yongding and Nanjing are the most popular. Therefore, when it comes to how to get to Fujian Tulou, it usually refers how to get to Yongding and Nanjing.
How to Get to Fujian Tulou (Nanjing & Yongding)
Yongding and Nanjing is only half an hour to one hour away from each other by car. The two places are both hidden in the remote area with at least 1.5 hours from the closest train station named Nanjing Railway Station by car. It is usually not an easy job for foreign visitors and even a Chinese to get there by high speed train plus car or bus. The best way to get there is with the help of direct car service from nearby Xiamen, the best gateway to Fujian Tulou. The car ride takes about 2.5 hours from Xiamen to Yongding and 2.5~3.5 hours from Xiamen to Nanjing.

There is no official sightseeing bus opened between Nanjing and Yongding and between the Tulou Clusters of each single Tulou area. Normally, visitors get around Fujian Tulou with the help of private car which take them from Xiamen to this region. And independent travelers may ride a motorbike with the locals to get around.

Wuyishan North Railway Station and Nanping Railway Station are located at the two sides of Wuyi Mountain. And the driving distance from any one of them to the mainly used south gate of Wuyi Mountain is almost the same, which is about 28 kilometers and 0.5 hour by car. The two stations both have high speed trains to/from Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Changsha, Guilin, Huangshan, Wuyuan, Nanjing, Hangzhou, etc. However, Nanping Railway Station normally has more daily bullet train scheduled.

Travel around Wuyishan City & Wuyi Mountain
In Wuyishan City, you can get around by taxi, city bus or car. Normally, it needs about half an hour getting from Wuyishan City downtown to Wuyi Mountain and 10 minutes around from Sangu Town to Wuyi Mountain by car. Sangu Town is the best place to stay while visiting Wuyi Mountain.
Inside the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, you can get around by tourist bus, which can take you to all the major tourist sites, including Nine Bends Stream, Wuyi Palace, Dahongpao Tea Plantation, Tiger Roaring Peak, etc. And the popular bamboo rafting from Nice Bends Stream to Wuyi Palace takes about 1.5 hours. Hiking time to each splendid peak in Wuyi Mountain varies from half an hour to 3 hours or so.

How to Get to/around Xiapu
Xiapu County in Ningde City is where the picturesque Xiapu Mudflat is located. At present, there is no airport built there. Visitors usually ride a high speed train or private car to get there. Private car is more popular, because Xiapu is only 2.5~3 hours from Xiamen and 1~1.5 hours from Fuzhou by car. And the best photography spots are distributed in the coastal villages that relatively far away from each other with no official sightseeing buses connected, which may be more convenient if you go with private cars.

Fuzhou now has two popular train stations, namely Fuzhou Railway Station and Fuzhou South Railway Station. Fuzhou Railway Station is closer to Fuzhou downtown, while Fuzhou South Railway station is closer to Fuzhou Changel International Airport. The driving distance from Fuzhou Railway Station to Fuzhou downtown is about 9 kilometers (0.5 hour by car). And it takes about 40 minutes (20 kilometers) if you go form Fuzhou South Railway Station.
The two stations all provide high speed train service to/from Xiamen (1.5~4.5 hrs.), Shanghai (4~7 hrs.), Shenzhen (5~5.5 hrs.), Guangzhou (6 hrs.), Xiapu (1~2 hrs.), etc. However, high speed trains to/from Beijing (8~11 hrs.), Xian (9.5~10 hrs.), Wuyishan (1~1.5 hrs.), Huangshan (2.5 hrs.), Guilin (8 hrs.) and Changsha (4.5~5.5 hrs.) only depart from or arrive at Fuzhou Railway Station.

Get around Fuzhou
Visitors can easily travel around Fuzhou by taxi, metro or bus. Travelling in Putian, taxi, public bus and ferry are all accessible. And if you are going to visit Meizhou Island, you are required to get to Wenjia Port close to the coastal line of Putian first and then ride a ferry to Meizhou Island.
