Get to Jinan by Flight
In Shandong, Jinan is one of the major air gateway cities with Qingdao. The Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport (IATA: TNA) - the only airport in Jinan serves both domestic and international (& regional) flights to Jinan. So far, the airport operates more than 140 airlines to over 90 destinations at home and abroad. That is, tourists can take non-stop flight to Jinan from Shanghai, Xian, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Datong, Dalian, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hohhot, Lijiang, Xiamen, Zhangjiajie, etc. and Yantai, Weihai in Shandong within short hours. Meanwhile, there are regular direct flights departing from Hong Kong, Macau, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, Bangkok and some Asia countries to Jinan.
Note: There is no direct flight between Beijing, Tianjin, Zhengzhou and Jinan for their distances are very short and train travels are super-fast and convenient.

Get to Jinan by Train
Jinan is still a crucial regional rail hub in East China, with lots of railways and high speed railways passing through. At present, it mainly runs high speed trains on the very busy north-south Beijing Shanghai High Speed Railway, Jiaoji (Qingdao-Jinan) High Speed Railway, Shijiazhuang-Jinan High Speed Railway and normal trains on the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Qingdao-Jinan Railway and Handan (Hebei)-Jinan Railway. Usually, tourists take train to Jinan from Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Qingdao within just several hours. Better yet, much more high speed rails linking Jinan and Zhengzhou, Binzhou, Jining, Laiwu and other cities outside and inside Shandong are under planning or construction now, which will make the train travel to Jinan more efficient and flexible.

Get from Beijing to Jinan
Jinan is about 400 km (249 mi)) from capital Beijing. Since there is no flight flying between Beijing and Jinan as of today, the train travel is the only and popular way to travel from Beijing to Jinan, which is extremely convenient, efficient and comfortable.
By High Speed Train: Every day, there are more than 90 high speed bullet trains (G trains) departing from Beijing South Railway Station from 06:30 to 21:00 to Jinan. Based on different railways, most trains stop at Jinan West Railway Station and very few arrive at Jinan Railway Station and Jinan East Railway Station. The entire train journey only takes 1.5 hours to 2 hours and three kinds of tickets are sold on the Beijing to Jinan high speed trains: First Class Seat, Second Class Seat and Business Class Seat.
By Normal Train: Normal trains with a longer duration of 6 to 8 hours are available as well. They leave from Beijing Railway Station between 10:30 to 00:00 each day and get to Jinan Railway Station and Jinan Daminghu Railway Station finally.

Get from Shanghai to Jinan
Jinan is situated about 840 km (522 mi) far away from Shanghai, and can be reached by direct flight and trains.
By Flight (Most Recommended): Shanghai provides nearly 10 non-stop flights to Jinan every day. The flights take off from Shanghai from 07:00 in the early morning to 23:15 before midnight, and land at Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport. The air travel is just 2 hours. Please note that both Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (IATA: SHA) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (IATA: PVG) have flights to Jinan, you can choose where to leave based on the flight schedule and your distance and transportation to the airport.
By High Speed Train: Each day, Shanghai sends nearly 60 high speed trains (all are G trains) from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai Railway Station to Jinan West Railway Station and Jinan Railway Station. The fastest train takes less than 3 hours and the slowest train needs 4.5 hours or so. You can take train leaving from about 06:30 to 18:30 and get to Jinan on the same day.
By Normal Train: There are about 6 normal trains (all are overnight trains) departing from Shanghai Railway Station to Jinan Railway Station. These trains depart in the afternoon and evening but arrive at 02:00 to 09:00, taking about 10 to 14 hours, about triple that of the high speed train.

Get from Xian to Jinan
Jinan lies about 910 km (565 mi) northeast of the famous Chinese ancient capital Xian. There are both non-stop flights and trains you can take to Jinan from Xian.
By Flight (Most Recommended): There are 10 non-stop flights flying from Xian Xianyang International Airport (IATA: SIA) to Jinan. The flights are arranged leaving from about 07:00 to 23:30 each day. One-way air trip costs about 2 hours, so flying is the best way to get from Xian to Jinan.
By High Speed Train: Xian North Railway Station has approximately 10 daily high speed trains to Jinan each day. They start from 07:50 to 16:30 from Xian and reach different railway stations in Jinan after 5.5 to 7 hours’ ride.
By Normal Train: Xian Railway Station near the North Gate of the Xian Ancient City Wall delivers 5 normal trains to Jinan per day. The trains are all overnight trains getting to Jinan the next day after running 13 to 17.5 hours.

Get from Zhengzhou to Jinan
Jinan is located at about 440 km (273 mi) northeast of Zhengzhou, capital city of Henan Province. At present, taking a train from Zhengzhou to Jinan is the only choice, because there are no direct flights from Zhengzhou to Jinan, but only time-consuming connecting flights via Dalian, or Yantai, Wenzhou, Shanghai, Chongqing.
By High Speed Train: There are nearly 20 high speed trains (G trains) running from Zhengzhou East Railway Station to Jinan per day. These trains depart from Zhengzhou from 08:00 to 19:30 and arrive in Jinan on the same day. It takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. The terminals are different railway stations, including Jinan Railway Station, Jinan West and East Railway Stations.
By Normal Train: Zhengzhou has more than 5 daily normal trains leaving from Zhengzhou Railway Station to Jinan Railway Station. Most are overnight trains taking around 6.5 to 10.5 hours.

Travel around in Jinan City
After arrival by flight and trains, tourists still need to transfer to the downtown area for accommodation and sightseeing major attractions in Jinan. One of the conveniences is that Baotu Spring Park, Daming Lake, Dive Dragon Pool and City Square Center are all located in the city center with short walking distance. Get from Jinan to Qingdao
Best-known for the charming costal scenery and passionate beer culture, Qingdao is one of the top destinations to visit in Shandong. The distance from Jinan to Qingdao is around 365 km (227 mi) and the train travel is the most popular way to travel from Jinan to Qingdao and Qingdao to Jinan, for there is no short-distance flight available between them.
By High Speed Train: Every day, Jinan dispatches nearly 70 high speed bullet trains (G & D trains) to Qingdao. The trains depart from different railway stations in Jinan and eventually reach Qingdao Railway Station and Qingdao North Railway Station. Train time is around 2 to 3 hours. The earliest D train starts from about 03:00 in the early morning, while the first G train leaves Jinan at about 07:30. Besides, the last G and G train both depart at nearly 20:30 and get to Qingdao at 23:00.
By Normal Train: In Jinan, Jinan Railway Station and Daminghu Railway Station also run more than 15 normal trains to Qingdao. They are K, T and Z trains costing around 3.5 to 5.5 hours.

Get from Jinan to Mount Tai
Mount Tai (Taishan) is located in Tai’an City, about 72 km (45 mi) south of Jinan. There are three ways of transportation tourists can take to Mount Tai from Jinan.
By Private Transfer: The driving journey between Jinan and Tai’an has been shortened to just half an hour by the newly-opened Jinan-Tai’an Highway. That means, tourist can get to Mount Tai from Jinan within 1 hour. By Bus: Jinan Long-distance Bus Terminal, Jinan Long-distance Bus East Station and West Bus Stations all have buses to Tai’an, for about 1.5 hours’ ride. After arrival, you need to take another 30 minutes bus to the entrance of Mount Tai.

Get from Jinan to Qufu
Qufu, the “Hometown of Confucius”, is situated 150 km (93 mi) south of Jinan. You can either take a private car or a train trip from Jinan to Qufu.
By High Speed Train: Each day, there are over 50 high speed trains (G trains) running from Jinan to Qufu East Railway Station in Qufu. They depart from 06:40 to 22:00 and arrive in Qufu on the day. The high speed trains are all G trains, taking about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
By Normal Train: 2 normal trains run from Jinan Railway Station to Qufu Railway Station each day, with duration of about 2.5 hours.
By Private Driving: It takes 2 to 2.5 hour driving from Jinan city center to downtown Qufu. You will pass Mount Tai in Tai’an on the way.

Famous as the “Kite Capital of the World”, Weifang lies about 210 km (130.5 mi) east of Jinan.
By High Speed Train: Jinan has over 85 high speed bullet trains to Weifang Railway Station and Weifang North Railway Station every day. Among them, the high speed train (G train) often takes 50 minutes to 1 hour while a bullet train (D train) requires 1.5 hours. The earliest D train leaves at about 03:00 and the first G train starts at around 06:00.
By Normal Train: There are also more than 20 normal trains running from Jinan Railway Station and Jinan Daminghu Railway Station to Weifang Railway Station on a daily basis. The normal train journey takes about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Located on the northeastern Shandong Peninsula, Yantai is a charming coastal city with some colonial sites. Generally, there are two types of transportation you can use to get from Jinan to Yantai.
