it was great! I really appreciated Lily's flexibility when I needed to rest a bit more one day and and she was amazing when she came to meet be the day I arrived even though the tour hadn't started because my hotel was blocked off for covid testing (close contact). I was tired and frustrated but she helped me navigate the situation and was very kind about it. I also really enjoyed the itinerary- I felt like I got to see so much and Lily gave me a lot of interesting information. She was obviously very professional and experienced, knowing exactly how to make the most of our visits. The driver was great, I felt very safe the whole time. The restaurants were a bit expensive for lunch for 1 person but it wasn't a huge deal- I invited Lily to join me because I couldn't eat the huge portions. Overall, I really enjoyed my time in Zhangjiajie and it went smoothly because Lily truly has expertise in the area but was also flexible when necessary.

Hi Leo,
Thanks for your email and apologies for not getting back to your earlier but its been a busy return to Beijing.
Verity and I were extremely happy with our tour with Bree. She and the driver went above and beyond waiting for us at the airport until the early hours of the morning as our flight was delayed.
In relation to Bree, she was a great guide. She obviously knew her stuff, was friendly and expertly navigated us around the sites. What we really appreciated was Bree taking us to places that were a little bit out of the way to take us away from the crowds so we could experience the spectacular scenery and views without too many people around us.
In relation to the tour and the schedule, we were really happy with the places on the itinerary and the time we were able to spend at each. Throughout the trip we did not feel rushed nor that we had too much time at any place and were really happy with being able to walk around some really beautiful places.
The choice was hotel was good as it meant we were close to the park which meant less driving in the morning and we were happy with the room.
In addition, the support we received prior to and during the trip from you and Bree was greatly appreciated. We have already passed on the details for the tour and your company to several friends of ours and we are already looking at when we could reschedule our Huangshan trip.
In relation to the Huangshan trip, we were wondering how much notice you need before booking? For example, if we decided on a Monday to do the trip, could we start it on the Friday of that week? We recognise that you require time to lock in hotel bookings, guides, tickets etc. but were wondering how much time was required.
Thanks once again for all your help.

In Zhangjiajie we were a little bit unlucky with the weather (no one can change that) and with the masses travelling (also something that cannot be changed). Because of the latter I am very glad that you suggested to visit the Gorge on arrival day already, we would never have made it on the second day (and it would have been in pouring rain).
The river cruise was excellent; although it being pretty expensive we most certainly appreciated the special treatment we received due to booking “executive”.
So I have already recommended this trip to colleagues and friends.
Thanks for all your support before the trip (and for getting us out of the broom-closet in Zhangjiajie)

Hi Leo,
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, this has been a busy week! Sylvie and I had a great trip and we agreed the service was excellent. On the boat, all the crew were very helpful, especially Momo and Billy. We really appreciated how well everyone looked after us. The guides we had on the boat and in Zhangjiajie had great English. We really liked that David in Zhangjiajie looked at the weather forcasts to decide what would be the best activity for the day. He knew a lot of less visited areas, which made for a more relaxing and enjoyable visit, even when the park was more crowded. The driver was one of the best I've had in China, though we did have to wait around for him to arrive sometimes. I don't know how much control you have over the boat, but there are a couple suggestions I have.
-On the excursions, it would be helpful to have a translated document of some of the important information about the place. I don't expect an entire spoken translation of everything that is being said, but it would have been nice to have more information at the dam and on the 3 Gorges boat ride, as there was a lot being said in Mandarian and most of it wasn't translated. Just a simple handout, even just using something like Google Translate, would have been nice.
-There were a couple of times another boat docked directly next to ours, which made it impossible to use the balcony or really relax in the room because our "neighbors" were too close and too loud. That's all I can really think of now. Like I said, the service we received was excellent and I would definitely recommend the trip to others. Thanks again!

Hi Riley. No problem. Happy to provide feedback.
Zhangjiajie is beautiful and there are so many activities - I will definitely suggest it to our friends, though perhaps when it is a little warmer. Favourite activities include: Yellow cave, Tianzi Mountain, Golden Whip Stream, Glass Bridge and the walk along the bottom of the canyon, river cruise in FengHuang.
Lily was lovely and very accommodating. We enjoyed her stories about the local customs. Her English is excellent - as is the driver's. Both made sure we had no problems checking into the hotels and made our flight - even though it meant they had to wait at the airport for 1.5 hours.
The tours were great, and we were really grateful to have Lily guiding us. The only thing I would change would be to include some breaks in a warm place with a cup of tea. The activities meant a long time walking in the cold. I would prefer to walk faster and therefore have more time to rest. Also the lunches were very late some days.
We were hoping for a slightly more relaxed holiday, so I would take out some activities (e.g. going to the base of the big hole and going up to Huangshi Village). It would be helpful to have some estimated times for how long each activity may take so we can decide if we want to do it or not.
FengHuang was really cool. I wish we had spent one more night there. Lily had excellent knowledge of the history of the town. However, the historical sites we visited were not really that interesting to us, particularly as a lot of it related to quite recent history. For us that time would be better spent exploring the lovely winding streets - especially as it was a sunny day.
The accommodation was very lovely and very comfortable and warm. The only thing I would like, and it may not be possible, is to have some western-style breakfast options - toast, cereal, English Breakfast tea, orange juice.
Finally, we are so grateful to you for rearranging our flights when they were cancelled so late. We would not have enjoyed the stress of trying to find and book new flights ourselves. That is a really valuable service!
I think that covers it. Overall it was a really lovely holiday. Zhangjiajie is an amazing place and it was great to experience some of China's natural beauty and impressive infrastructure like the cable cars, glass bridge and outdoor elevator.
Thanks again for organising it for us so quickly! We will be in touch when we are ready to go on our next trip.
Regards,
Rachel

1. Is your travel consultant of our company fast enough to answer your E-mail and patient enough to answer your questions?
Yes, everything was taken care of promptly, and Johnson was very flexible to meet my needs as I looked to modify plans. I appreciate the great job he did in making this a successful trip.
2. How do you comment your tour arrangements?
Jingdezhen
- Tour guide Peter was excellent, very enthusiastic and informative. He also helped to get all of my train tickets for the trip which was very helpful.
- Driver very good- no issues.
- Hotel was very good- new , modern hotel, with good facilities and very good breakfast. Location in the entertainment district was perfect for walking around at night. Highly recommend to keep this one.
- Tour arrangements were good. Morning touring the kilns and the museum was nice to see. The afternoon was perhaps a bit less organized without specific stops- would have been better to see specific galleries where shopping could be done, or going to the factory area downtown (which we eventually did because I asked to do so).
- Lunch was very good- good to go to an authentic local place for food.
- Transition to Huangshan was smooth , without issue.
Huangshan/Villages
- Tour guide Xia (Jerry) was excellent, very strategic in his approach to ensure a great experience.
- Driver was very good- no issues.
- Huangshan International Hotel was ok- I would say average, could be better. Location was good near the downtown. Breakfast was not very good – pretty low quality.
- Trip to Huangshan was well handled by Jerry, getting to the top of the mountain in reasonable time despite the crowds and he led me well around the mountain. We covered what I wanted to see- he encouraged us to see everything on day 1 with the weather getting worse – a very good call.
- Xihai Hotel had very nice rooms and a nice bar area. The only downside is there is only a buffet for dinner and it is not very good, but guess we had little choice. I did not eat breakfast there.
- Trip to Hongcun and Bishan the next day was very good. We left Huangshan early as the mountain was fogged over. Hongcun was crazy busy due to holidays but we saw the main sights, and then I had some time to walk around. I felt a little rushed with the schedule but still saw enough. Lunch was ok, not great. Bishan was very nice, with a chance to bike around the village areas and quiet. Xia guided me around the town on bike and then left me to bike on my own.
- Accommodation in Bishan was excellent- Pig’s Inn is perfect, and these type of atmospheric farm stays are much preferred by me and would be for other travelers. The dinner and breakfast were probably the best food I had on the trip, and having the Dog’s Bistro around the corner for drinks was an ideal setup.
- The next day was good as well. As we were running ahead on the agenda, we added Nanping, which was a quiet beautiful village to walk around, and then we went to Xidi, which was really nice and large. We spent a full morning in these two villages and then stopped for lunch outside Xidi. Lunch was ok- better than the day before, but not exceptional. Then we stopped in the Old Street in Huangshan to buy some Shaobing, and then we finished the day a little early at 230 pm. I feel maybe we could have added one more thing to see, but this was fine.
Train trip to Zhangjiajie
- No issues, very smooth transition in Changsha. Driver moved me across the city efficiently.
Zhangjiajie
- Tour guide Derrick was very good, he had a few moments where we was a bit pessimistic about the weather and crowds, but he managed the situation professionally and did a great job despite the bad weather.
- Our main driver was very good, he handled everything well. The drivers we had for short pickups were less reliable- the one picking me up to go to Tianmen Mountain was late, and generally they were less friendly and reliable, requiring effort by Derrick to fix.
- Hotel (Santo Domingo) was below standard and I would strongly advise you to change to Crowne Plaza or Pullman which are much more appropriate hotels for international travelers. The breakfast looked very questionable in quality so I went to Starbucks.
- The tour to the glass bridge was very good and I got to see everything, despite not great weather. Then, we went to Zhangjiajie where weather was not great at the top but Derrick found good trails on the bottom where we could see some scenery. We then went to late lunch/early dinner which was an excellent restaurant with very good food.
- The next day at Avatar mountain was good for weather – Derrick timed the visit to be a bit later to ensure we would see something at the best part of the day. We missed out the 3rd viewpoint due to fog, but again, he found another trail for us to hike at the bottom. Again we went to a late lunch/early dinner at a very good restaurant.
- The Best Western hotel in Zhangjiajie had good rooms but common areas and food were below standard. My advice here would be for travelers to spend the night up in Wulingyuan at either Crowne or Pullman and then go into town the next morning early.
- Tianmen Mountain was totally fogged over, so I got unlucky. We did the trip anyway which was fine and I saw the glass bridge. After seeing this, we stopped for a small lunch at a wonton stand (very good) and then we went to a lake for a quick visit. Then we traveled to Fenghuang. We checked into the hotel and then Derrick arranged a dinner at a local restaurant. This food was not great to be honest, it was a bit low quality but this was the only miss. I was able to walk around the town and enjoy the scenery.
- The hostel I chose- Yunji Inn- was very nice with great views and comfortable beds and showers. Just to note cleanliness in the corners was not great so some would be turned off by this, but I didn’t mind honestly.
- After a morning to myself , which I appreciated, Derrick toured me around the town and then we headed back to ZJJ. As we got back, Derrick chose a restaurant with a view of Tianmen from a distance, which was clearly visible- much appreciated as he was thinking of me, and the food was good. Then he dropped me at the airport.
3. Are you willing to recommend our service to your people who also have an interest to visit China?
Yes, also for those within China
4. Your
general opinion on us?
Very professional, well organized and flexible. This is the 2nd trip I’ve taken
with you and both were successful.
5. Do you have any suggestions on improving our services?
- Guides – keep them , they are great.
- Itinerary- looks good overall, you may be able to add more villages or sights to the Huangshan/villages tour as there is enough time in the schedule. Beef up the Jingdezhen afternoon itinerary with clear visits to galleries for shopping.
- Transportation- Drivers all good except for the short trip drivers in ZJJ, train trips were well arranged.
- Hotels- As mentioned, smaller atmospheric stays like Pig’s Inn or Yunji Inn would be preferred. I think you can offer two choices to visitors- either standard international hotel or rustic stays and they can decide. In Wulingyuan, switch to Pullman or Crowne Plaza and avoid Santo Domingo, and then consider to stay there before Tianmen as the Best Western is a little beat down. Continue with the hotel in Jingdezhen, that was perfect.
6. Can we use your comments of our service, the photos or other images that you took on the tour for our websites, brochures, marketing and publicity? If yes, could you please send us some of your photos by E-mail?
Yes, this is fine. I can forward some images on wechat – this will be easier. Let me know if this is ok- just ping me- and also let me know what you might like pictures of – as I have them from all places.
7. If you had a nice tour experience, may I know whether you could write us a review on Trip Advisor? It’s very important to our company and my own career! If so, please let me know and I will send you the our homepage link on Trip Advisor.
I will try to do so when I have time.

Hello Wonder!
This email is a bit late, but it is the review email! I just posted a review to tripadvisor. I think it takes a day or two load (I think it gets reviewed), but this is what it says:
"This is the second trip that my
husband and I have taken with China Discovery, and we thoroughly enjoyed
it! Our first experience with China Discovery was a trip to Yunan
Provice. This time, we went to Zhangjiajie in Hunan Provice. Each
time, our thoughtful travel consultant, Wonder, kept us informed about the
process. When we had questions, he answered them. If it required
him to reach out to a tourist site to confirm information, he did. He
kept us informed of various travel requirements, weather conditions, etc. I feel very comfortable and confident planning my trips through Wonder, and my
husband and I are planning additional trips with him as our travel consultant
in the future.
Each time we have gone on a trip, we have loved the itinerary, the food, and
the experience. In addition, our guides' English has always been superb,
and we enjoyed chatting with them to gain more cultural understanding of our
environment.
In Yunan, Tom was our guide. We went to the Yuanyang Rice terraces and
surrounding areas of Kunming. He was great! Great conversationalist,
great enthusiast for history and culture, and great guide. he even always made
sure we had extra bottles of water. We would highly recommend Tom.
As for Zhangjiajie specifically, it was great fun! Our local guide,
David, was fantastic. At one point, when he realized we really did not
like the crowds, he made a point to find quieter and more solitary locations
that would still show us the splendor of Zhangjiajie. Food choices were
great. He kept us to a schedule, but in a comfortable and appropriate
way. We really, thoroughly, enjoyed ourselves. We would highly
recommend David.
As you can tell, we had two totally different trips and both were highly
successful. Our experience with China Discovery has thus far been a
completely wonderful experience and we hope to have more in the
future."
As for the China Discovery website, you are free to use the above review, or for variety, you can use the following.
"We recently went to Zhangjiajie and it was an amazing experience! Wonder was our travel agent again -- I was so happy with my first trip with Wonder that I reached out to him again for this second trip! Wonder took the time to answer questions, inform us about travel requirements, and ensure we had a wonderful time. He patiently answered questions and gave us different quotes as the number of people and days of the trip changed. The fact our second trip planned by Wonder was so great, that it gave me confidence and comfort to plan a third trip with Wonder, which will happen later this year.
In addition, our guide in Zhangjiajie, David, was fantastic. He made a point to ensure that in each event, we had every opportunity to enjoy ourselves. At one point, he realized we did not like the crowds associated with the most popular lookout points in Zhangjiajie, so he made a point to take us to more quiet, solitary locations that still provided us with the splendor of the park. He took care of every entrance and made sure everything was as seamless as possible. It was amazing. His english was fantastic and he took the time to ask questions and listen to answers. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were very happy to have had David as our guide!"
Also, I have some pictures for you! They should be attached. You are free to use these on your website. (They might have gone to the bottom of the email chain)
Thanks, Wonder! We are looking forward to our upcoming Yunan trip also.
take care

We understand that there is a credit card fee. . .could you provide us with the final amount (including the fee)?
Also, I think Mark and I would really enjoy the boutique hotels you chose for us. Could we verify that those hotels are still available for our trip?
And of course: I have really enjoyed working with you. You provide excellent customer service and we believe the quality of the trips are wonderful. My colleagues loved the trip to Zhangjiajie and I have told many of my colleagues about you/your company.
Last question: would you recommend anywhere over the Christmas holiday to New Years (01 January)?

We were really very satisfied with the overall setup of the trip by you and your team.
Tony was an excellent tour guide that helped us in all issues and also provided very good photos and videos for our memories.
As we were very luck with no people (less than 5 min waiting time at all attractions) and the weather conditions it was overall an excellent and memorable trip in China.
Please plan well the timing of your trip: in the peak season and public holidays, the waiting times are definitely many hours per day (!!!), so definitely avoid that.

I will read with interest and forward to my family.
I hope you and your family were not affected with COVID19 and it is good to note that it appears to be coming under control in China.
Here in the UK our figures are gaining momentum and we have just moved into the “stay at home” phase with guidelines and key restrictions.
On a positive, we have very fond memories of our time in China last year and are so pleased we were able to visit. We wish you and our tour guides all the best, continue to keep safe.

Apologies for the late reply as I'm very busy lately.
Overall, I and my family are very satisfied with the tour. We learnt a lot about interesting things in Zhangjiajie from Kevin, not just the natural scenery, but also the food, arts and culture. The schedule was not too packed, and Kevin assisted us well during the trip. The driver is also very nice. Thank you very much for arranging a memorable tour.

Hi Jack,
Sorry to the late reply. Sandy supposed to send you the feedback and I didn't know she still hasn't done yet. Or she will send you in a few days.
That's a great tour. For such short time, I can see both Huangshan and Zhangjiajie. The tour guide at both area is great, friendly and knowledgeable. Hotel is good. Only one thing that the meal included in our tour was not that great, a lot of vegetable but not enough meat. We love meat and most people live in US love to eat meat.
Next time you can have some suggestions that we stay one more day to explore a little bit of Shanghai even though we all have been travel to Shanghai. Every night we went back to shanghai so late. We only can go to the bund to take picture and then come back to sleep.
Lastly, we are very appreciate your arrangement, we can see what we want to see. Thanks a lot. I definitely will recommend you and your company to my family and friend.

Hi Jack
Took us a couple of days to get back to normal here
Both tours were amazing
We all agreed that Zhangjiajie is one of the most amazing places we have ever been
Beautiful scenery, unbelievable landscapes and basically incredible sights and attractions
Disappointed we missed the Fairy Fox show, but that was just timing
Xian was equally as interesting and to spend our Christmas Day with the Terracotta Warriors was a Christmas to remember
Both guides were brilliant and very knowledgeable
Thanks again for arranging this for us and I have already been passing China Discovery details on to others and will continue to do so

Dear Lily,
Happy new year!
Hopefully this whole year will see you & your entire family in blessings and happiness!
Kindly find here attached our evaluation form of the trip.
Many thanks again and hope to keep in touch with you!
1. Is your travel consultant of our company fast enough to answer your E-mail and patient enough to answer your questions?
* Yes. Lily was very quick to respond all my inquiries by e-mail or WeChat. She was flexible, accommodating, and informative too. We had quite a lot of requests and changes on our itinerary, and she managed to give us best services. On our last day there, she even came to see us and sent us off at the airport :)
2. How do you comment your tour arrangements?
* We enjoyed the arrangements in general. Our activities stick to the planned itineraries.
3. Are you willing to recommend our service to your people who also have an interest to visit China?
* Yes, sure.
4. Your general opinion on us?
* We enjoyed your services overall. No major complaints whatsoever. The guides were patient too. Shout out to Mrs. Tutu who accompanied us until late night! :)
5. Do you have any suggestions on improving our services?
* Maybe you could try adding more variations for the meal menu. On our last days we found ourselves bored with the same menu servings. In Chengdu we also requested for a Japanese dinner recommendation but in the end we didn’t manage to get any (there was one Japanese restaurant near our hotel but it was too small to accommodate the 17 of us).
6. Can we use your comments of our service, the photos or other images that you took on the tour for our websites, brochures, marketing and publicity? If yes, could you please send us some of your photos by E-mail?
* Sure. You may use our group photo pictures (if you have none, Lily can ask me on WeChat).
7. We sometimes have requests from potential customers who would like to inquire from or our ex-customers. May they contact you for advices? _______
* No problem. They may contact me on patricetan@outlook.com

Hello Riley
I have just submitted a review to trip advisor.
Here is a bit more information than I posted in the review.
Firstly, I want to thank you for your assistance and perseverance in organising our trip. We appreciate your listening to what we wanted and fitting in our requests as best you could. As a result the holiday was fabulous and included things we like to see and do and didn’t include the ‘normal’ mass tourist things.
Your guides are excellent. We appreciated all guides, but we would especially like to mention Zhouma (Lhasa), Jessie (Kunming) and Tutu (Zhangjiajie), they have a wealth of knowledge which they are able to impart in an enthusiastic manner, and they are also very very helpful. Zhouma and Jessie’s assistance with firstly my Ipad and then my clay colours was exceptional and truly appreciated.
We had many highlights along the way but if I have to name a few I would say Muslim Street in Xian (I had previously been to the Terracotta Warriors, so it was a repeat trip – though still amazing), the Potala Palace and walking the circle around the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, Green Lake Park in Kunming, the Impression show in Yangshou, just about all the mountain activities in Zhangjiajie.
We will certainly be recommending you and China Discovery to anyone who is interested in travelling to China.

Dear Catherine,
Many thanks for organising the tour for us. Even though we have not ended the tour, i would like to provide feedback.
1. Thank you Catherine for being so prompt in the reply and your excellent organisation and planning. You are also very patient and accommodating towards the many requests and incessant enquiries from all of us.
2. Pick up and transfers at each destinations has been very prompt and smooth. There was never a time when we have to wait for the tour guides and this is very commendable.
3. At YiChang, i must commend Faye for her fast response. She has been very impressive and quick witted to get the tickets changed when my husband's passport was the wrong one. I must apologise for not checking that he has a new passport. Pls help me extend my most heartfelt thanks to Faye because it was too rush then.
4. Zhangjiajie's tour guide Wendy and driver Tang has been very accomodating towards the group's demands. She has been extremely patient with all of us , making our trip so peaceful. She also went beyond her duties to bring some of the members to the hair salon and shopping and kept us company till very late at night.
She has been very thoughtful in all her little actions, including packing our breakfast when we were catching an early flight.
She was able to integrate very quickly into the group and at the same time be quick to make all arrangements n command our attention.
Her knowledge of Zhangjiajie has helped us to understand the locals, the cultures and she is also creative to describe the different caves n peaks in the mountains so that enjoying the scenery became even more menaningful.
We are enjoying ourselves and hope that the last part of our tour will help us bring back great memories of China.
Thank you Catherine once again for your excellent service.

Dear Mark,
I have submitted my review to Trip Advisor. I have to apologize for the late reply as I was very busy last few days.
1. How's the tour arrangement? And your travel consultant's service?
Overall it was an excellent arrangement by Mark who meticulously planned every detail and religiously monitoring our schedule throughout and had it executed by the caring and helpful guide Carrie.
2. How's the hotel and meals?
The hotel in Zhangjiajie was good as it is expected of Pullman 's branding. The one in Fenghuang is not as good but Mark had forewarned me so I was prepared that the accommodation and breakfast would not be good. The meals are alright as Carrie had given us the liberty and good recommendation to order the food that suits our pallet as we cannot take spicy ones. Good advice by Mark and well executed by Carrie.
3. What do you think of our guides and drivers?
The drivers are all good and pleasant especially Mr. Du who was careful and polite .He drove at the right speed and I was impressed by his driving skill on a wet day.
We would like to place on record our heartfelt thanks to Mark and the team in Chengdu, Yichang & Zhangjiajie.

Hi Wendy - Tara and I just got home last night. Thank you again for arranging a great trip for us. Here are are a few comments:
What we really appreciated:
the great guides…while we weren’t able to submit a feedback form for Mamie in Changsha, we felt she was very experienced, and enjoyed her thoroughness
the way the guides accompanied us into the airport to make sure we got our tickets. the flights you booked for us, particularly the great seats at the front of the plane. the hotels were also good - we recommend the Crowne Plaza in Changsha (over the Pullman), which has a fabulous breakfast. we had a great, experienced driver in Chengdu, who put in a long day getting us back to Chengdu from Emei Shan
What could be improved:
it would be nice to include evening entertainment in the itinerary (or at least offer it as an option) - we were interested in seeing the evening performance in Chengdu and the ethnic minority show in Zhangjiajie, and the guides were kind enough to help get us tickets
the cable car at Zhangjiajie was closed for the month of November, so we were not able to visit Huangshi Village or the Golden Whip Brook - as a result, the day’s activity was very short, and we ended up arranging a separate tour of the glass suspension bridge (at our own cost)
the last day in Zhangjiajie was short; to fill up the time, the guide was kind enough to take us to a shopping mall
the van in Zhangjiajie was not as new/modern as the vans in the other cities (however, we really liked the driver)
In addition to Mamie’s experience, we loved Ruby’s exuberance (in Chengdu) and Tony’s vitality and personality (in Zhangjiajie).
Tara may have additional feedback. By the way, she had problems using her gmail account for email in all the cities (except for Guangzhou).
Thanks again for working with us.
—Best, Royee

- The Guilin Park Hotel, while comfortable, was not really 4-star. The bathroom was very old, with mouldy wall tiles. We would not recommend this hotel to others, although the location was perfect and the exterior and foyer looked beautiful. The restaurant was uninviting, and the bar was not operating at all.
- The One Art Hotel in Ping’An was superb, and the family operating the business were very friendly and welcoming. This hotel is highly recommended.
- If we had our time over again we would have liked 2 nights in YangShou. It was a lovely town and small enough for us to wander at our leisure
- The bike ride along the Yulong River and then to Moon Hill and The Banyan Tree was great fun
- There were long car trips involved in our visit to Fengshuan. Perhaps we could have made a return trip from Zhangziajie by train and then flown from Zhangjiajie to Shanghai.
- Steven was an excellent guide and he provided advice as to where we should eat for our evening meals. He also suggested things for us to eat.
- Kevin was good, but perhaps not as helpful as Steven. He tended to rush us past things we wanted to see and we often had to ask him to slow down.
- It was difficult for us to order from restaurants in the Zhangziajie area. There was very little English spoken – and I had not downloaded a translation service to my phone before I left. I was not able to access this once I was in China as access to Google was blocked
Dear Lily,
We have now returned to Australia after the holiday you organised for us in The Guilin and Hunan areas and are happy to provide some feedback on the service you offered.
1. Is your travel consultant of our company fast enough to answer your E-mail and patient enough to answer your questions?
Lily was efficient and polite and always got back to us within 24 hours of our contacting her. She was very patient, particularly when the first trip we planned had to have major changes made due to our personal circumstances.
2. How do you comment your tour arrangements?
The tour was everything we expected.Timing was excellent and the attractions we visited were beautiful. Your country has spectacular scenery.
Some things are worth mentioning:
3. Are you willing to recommend our service to your people who also have an interest to visit China?
We certainly are. This is the second time we have used your service and have no complaints whatsoever. It is an excellent service and Lily is a pleasure to deal with. We only wish we could have met her personally to thank her.
4. Your general opinion on us?
5 star! Well done
5. Do you have any suggestions on improving our services?
2 suggestions:
Perhaps you could advise future customers to download translation app before they arrive.
Your guides could have with them a simple menu in Chinese/English that customers could refer to when in a non-English speaking restaurant.
6. Can we use your comments of our service, the photos or other images that you took on the tour for our websites, brochures, marketing and publicity? If yes, could you please send us some of your photos by E-mail?
See attached photos
7. We sometimes have requests from potential customers who would like to inquire from or our ex-customers. May they contact you for advices?
Yes, of course.
Thank you once again for a wonderful itinerary,

I would like to also say that despite our large group size of 20 people and the majority of them are eldery tourist Vivian aptly provided them with access to convinient wheelchairs as well as arranging the easiest possible routes for the eldery. I commend Vivian for her great job because our group is difficult to manage and she made our trip enjoyable and convinient.
We also like to thank you Moon (Kunming) and Nyama (Shangrila) our tour guides for helping the tour going smoothly and make it less stressful for our tour members. Thank you for the clear and concise explanation of the landmark and famous place of the tours. We also like to thank you to Mr. Deng our driver who take us safely to our destination despite the difficult terrain also his friendly & helpful attitude.

CHINA DISCOVERY (CHENGDU CHINA): chinadiscovery.com Highly recommended.
The itinerary ; 16 days private tour in Shanghai Hangzhou Guilin Zhangjiajie Xian Beijing and group tour Yangtze Cruise (13th Sept to 28th September 2019)
If there is one word that best describes the flow of our 16 day long tour to China , the word is SEAMLESS. Our tour operator China discovery (based out of Chengdu China) were simply awesome. Right from the time we landed to the our last day they ensured we were cared for and made all efforts to make the trip memorable. It all started with an email to Leo Li (Representative at China Discovery). I’m sure he practices meditation coz he never lost his cool answering the several questions we had and innumerable changes we made before landing. He replied to my queries even whilst on his personal leave….that’s dedication. He guided me on the dates. We would have landed during golden week and that would have been a challenge with the local holiday crowds. Leo was also empathetic when we lost our perfumes, hairspray and swiss knife to security at the railway station in Xian (bear in mind you cannot have these if you are taking the bullet trains). He arranged to pick the confiscated items from the railway authorities and ship it back to us in Dubai. The level of service is par excellence. Having travelled extensively I can vouch for China discovery for the extra-efforts they put in to make it a great experience.
All tour guides spoke good English (Trust me you need one). I would like to mention KAI (Our guide in Beijing). He is an excellent story teller. Got us hooked to the history of China (Wish I had someone like him teach us in School). Then there were the other guides who gave us enough time as required, never overdoing the information bit. Answering the never ending questions we threw at them.
Our only setback during the trip was missing The forbidden city tour. The site was closed earlier than expected; as preparations were on for the 70th National Day. However we were re-imbursed by the tour operator.
China has something for everyone. We chose the more scene route. Avatar mountains of Zhangjiajie are surreal, the rice terraces of Guilin, the Li river cruise , the lake city of Hangzhou and the Yangtze cruise were all a delight to experience. We insisted on a no-shopping tour.
Food can be a bit of a challenge to a few . Chinese food although popular may be quite different than how its made in a foreign land. If you are a vegetarian , pls specify this to your tour operator to help them guide you.
Hotel rooms were comfortable and locations were perfect. We could wander around the happening streets in every city and enjoy a dinner and a drink whilst taking in the local experiences.
People of China love to take pics with foreigners and its fun to share a smile , a laughter or even a hug with well-meaning individuals. Chinese parents encourage their kids to speak in English. So do indulge in a bit of a chat with the little one’s .
Tips :
When visiting China , ensure you give it at least 2 weeks. It’s a huge country, with every city/town/village offering different experiences.
Keep an eye out for what you cannot carry on train journeys or risk prohibited items getting forfeited.
VPN : Buy it to stay connected.
Have an offline app to translate your language into Mandarin (This is a BIG help)
Do not take offence if the Chinese don’t smile back at you. They are not being rude. It’s just my understanding that they do not know what to make of your smile. They do not understand your intent or it could be that they simply don’t smile often. They are lovely people if you get to know them .
Do not pack in too much for the day. Every location has lots to see, so a lot of walking. Shortlist your choices and finish the day at around 5 or 6 p.m . This way you are ready for the next day.
China will surprise you in ways you weren’t expecting. This middle kingdom is indeed a sleeping giant as Napoleon Bonaparte rightly put. The country has had a remarkable growth economically. They have adapted to change .The transportation systems are super-efficient , the development in tourism is surprising and all these changes while keeping its traditions and culture alive.
China fascinates.

We are happy to provide you our group photo so that you can published into your website:
Please let me know if you need any further information
On behalf of our group, I thank you once again for your dedicated effort so that we have a great holiday in China
Overall, our tour was good but hard to choose which part of the tour was the best. Below are our daily tour activities:
Zhangjiajie is our first destination:
On day 1, local guide, Carol was helpful, punctual and spoke English well. Her local knowledge was handy where she took us on the shortcut up to "1-step from Heaven" which saved us a couple of hours walking time. That was our 20km walk day!
On day 2, when we did the “Bailong Elevator”, and “10-li Gallery - 十里畫廊” was probably a bit disappointing cos Carol didn't give us much info on some of the sights or the significance of them (if there was any significance). may be too noisy traveling in the cable car.
On day 3, very handy to have Carol organise for tickets to the evening show for “Mei Li Xiang Xi - 魅力湘西”, which was pretty good show can’t miss.
On day 4, This is a 2 days visit to “Fenghuang old town” was good, Carol was able to show us best vantage point to take photos of an old town at night. Carol is also flexible enough to make arrangement for us to visit the “Hibiscus town - 芙蓉镇” on our way back from FengHuang.
Last day – day 6 in Zhangjiajie, Carol was good in chasing down our outstanding train tickets from Zhangjiajie to Yichang and saw us off at the train station. So, overall, Carol was very good, in our opinion, but probably could have given us a bit more background info and historical significance of the places we visited.
We enjoy the Yangtze river cruise very much. The friendly crew members, the foods and the entertainments are excellent. The state room is roomy and clean. This is exceeded our expectation
Chongqing is our 2nd destination:
On day 1, a day tour to “Dazu Grotto - 大足”, the local guide Alex, he certainly seemed to have more clued up on his subject re: the Dazu Grotto and the Beishan Rock Carvings. Alex’s English was pretty good.
On day 2, a day tour to visit the “Wulong Karst Scenic Area -武隆 & Furong Cave - 芙蓉洞”was great. It features the rare geological wonder - three natural karst stone bridges. Both Wulong and the Furong Caves are highly recommended.
Alex did his best to ensure we saw both places.
Guangzhou is our 3rd(last) destination:
Our last day tour is to visit – “Windows of the World” in Shenzhen. The local guide was Maggie. She spoke the best English. No real requirement for a guide as we were only going to Shenzhen. The miniature park which combines history relics nature wonders and culture together was good. Cos of time restraints, the CBD - shopping centre that we went to was probably really just to kill time, certainly not a lot that we were interested in, but that could just have been us.
Have said that, Maggie did a fantastic job for us. She is doing her best to resolve our transportation issues. She organised a van to pick up us for the airport at 04:45am from our hotel. The van is able to carry 6 of us and 6 large luggage. Maggie, also organised a private car tour for me to visit my hometown in Chongbian, xinhu. The total price is cheap and the service is great.
Moreover, Maggie did recommend us a fantastic restaurant for us to have dinner at (this is the best meal we have since we arrived China), no one will forget that meal we had at the 1 Michelin star restaurant, nor the “Bor-lor bao - 菠蘿包”Many thanks to Maggie!
2. Are you satisfied with the tour we arranged for you?
Yes. We are happy with the services provided. Our travel consultant Wendy Dan is a response person, she communicates with us frequently and make sure our requirements are met. She also contacts us thru email while we are on our journey to ensure we are problem free. The quotations provided are clear & reasonable, the payment instructions are clear. Having said that, since we have chosen our destinations, I guess so, it was a lot easier for Wendy to make arrangement, provide local guide and van/driver based on our choose destinations.
Overall, we are happy with the services arranged. Because it was a lot easier to get to the faraway places with the organised driver and guide, rather than we have to organise it ourselves at the risk of being ripped off, or given a bum steer like that driver in Guangzhou (after getting off the airport shuttle bus) who said that he could take all of us in the one car, with the suitcases, only to find out that he couldn’t do it!
3. Do you have any suggestions on improving our services ?
Well done. Only suggestion may be, ensure the local guide has a bit more background information and historical knowledge on the sights that we are visiting.

Sorry Lily I made a little mistake...

However, I think she can still improve on her English proficiency, as at times there was difficulty in her understanding me, and me understanding her.
Hi Wonder
I'm back in KL after an amazing and adventurous week in China. Attached are some of our photos from the trip. Regarding the below, please see my feedback

2. How’s the service of the tour guides during your whole tour?

Dear Lyn
We would like to thank you for arranging such a wonderful tour of China.
We commend you for having taken great pains to arrange such a magnificent tour, by providing all the comforts and needs in a foreign country.
The tour was memorable in quite a few aspects. Sight seeing and the services of the guides were superb.
The accommodation was first class except for the Sheraton in Guilin.
The food was exceptional. We were very much worried about the availability of vegetarian food, but whole group was totally gratified with selection of restaurants by the guides.
Regarding the tour guides we would like to single out three exceptional ones. Yo yo in Beijing, Wady in Xian and Maria in Shanghai. All three were very informative, friendly, fluent in english and took care of all our needs in superb manner. We wish we had an opportunity to meet with you in Chengdu and express our gratitude to you in person for arranging this wonderful tour. We will definitely recommend you and your company to all our friends.
Thanking you
Sincerely

Dear Madame Wing,
My friends and I are very happy to have chosen your Tour Operator: your services have been very professional and correct in everything.
In particular your professional skills, your kindness and disponibility in supporting us all long our tour have been really appreciated.
Of course i will give you enthusiastic positive feedbacks.
We posted on the web few of the thousands photos we took during our journey and we had been contacted by other people interested in our tour so we suggest your Tour operator.
We will use your service again when we will be back in China to explor new part of it!
Suggestions:
In some hotels we didn't found a continental breakfast: it was a problem for us to start the day :)
The last hotel of Zhangjiajie was too far from everything: difficult to go to the center ( taxi drivers didn't understand english) nothing nice all around ( just the park): i suggest you to let your hosts remain in Emperor 's Hotel ( even if it's not a very nice hotel) as in few minute by walk you can reach shops and bars especially in the evening.
I suggest you to book the glass bridge for the tourists that are interested in it because we wanted but our guide told us that was impossible to have tickets.
If you need more please just ask me.
Thank you for your services and all the attentions you had for us!
Best regards

Hello Zoe,
I’m sorry it took me so long to reply to you. We really appreciated your help in arranging our trip with such short notice. Usually when we travel we don’t use a travel agent and we spend many weeks planning. Because China is so large and we had only 10 days including flights we needed help in making decisions and you provided that. We had very good guides which made getting around easy. It would have been difficult to figure out getting around the airports and train stations by ourselves. The guides’ English ranged from good to excellent. We especially loved Carol in Zhangjiajie. She was fun and recommended really good restaurants! Johnny took us to a museum in Xian that was not on our itinerary and we enjoyed that. He also recommended a new market with many food vendors that was very fun to go for dinner in Xian. Our favorite places were Zhangjiajie, the Terra-cotta Warriors and the Great Wall. Our least favorite were the Jade Factory and the tea house. We felt they was some pressure to buy things and that is not something that interests us. We liked our hotels and their locations. We were able to walk to interesting places for dinner, especially the Hutong near our hotel in Beijing.
Zoe, you did a very good job for us. You always responded to my emails quickly, answered all my questions and gave us good advice. I think we must have kept you very busy. And you seem very friendly! I enjoyed working with you and I will write a review on Trip Advisor.
Thank you so much,

My review:
We just returned from our second trip to China, both organized by Rita Jiang from China Discovery.
In 2016, I opted to visit Xi'an (Terracotta Warriors) and Chonqing, before getting on a Yangtze River cruise. I found Rita's name on some internet reviews and got in touch with her. I was a bit apprehensive, having never done business with a China-based travel consultant, but my fear turned out to be completely unwarranted. Rita and China Discovery exceeded my expectations by providing excellent, knowledgeable English-speaking tour guides that took care of all of our needs - transportation, lodging, some meals, and of course, the tours. Zero stress, everything was arranged and in place upon our arrival, thanks to Rita's efforts.
This year, we decided to visit Zhangjiajie, and I immediately went through my e-mails to find Rita's contact information. Once again, she did not disappoint me. We had a very tight schedule, but Rita was able to build a flexible itinerary that allowed us to see all the amazing sites we wished to see, in the all too short time we were in Zhangjiajie. Our tour guide, Carrie, was simply the best. She was prompt, professional, knew her way around the National Park, and most importantly, she had a great attitude. She was able to lead us though about 6-10 miles of hiking each day, and skillfully kept us away from the noisy tour groups that invade the area. Again, zero stress, everything was perfectly arranged.
As you can see from the other reviews, China Discovery, is a class operation. Rita's customer service was distinguished and made both trips very easy and pleasurable.
For those considering a visit to China, be aware that there can be some unforeseen challenges (an understatement). Utilizing professional tour consultants such as Rita, and China Discovery, is a very well worthwhile investment.
Our thanks to Rita, China Discovery, and Carrie for providing us with an experience to cherish for the rest of our lives.

Hi Rita, I’m on the plane back home now. I will write about our trip on trip advisor, but also tell my friends from the outdoor hiking group to which I belong. You made things so easy for us. I had told my girlfriend that I had worked with you in the past, and she was skeptical (look up this word). We were both very, very pleased with how things worked out. I will send you a copy of what I write, I think Zhangjiajie will because me a major destination for American tourists in the future. Also, while in Beijing, we went to Jinshaling to see the Great Wall. Much better than mutainyu or badaling. I think that will become very popular in coming years.
Will write more once I’m home and have caught up on work.
Thanks for being Rita!

Hello Rita,
It took some time to answer, because i had a problem with my computer.
I much enjoyed the time in Zhangjiajie, the park was amazing, tiamen mountain, glassbridge…
Although for me it was a bit short, because of the problems with the flights.
And i know this is not your fault, but because of that i found the tour quiet expensive after everything.
The hotel in the city i stayed in was not ok. Poor hygiene, and the breakfast was horrible, so i don’t know what they charge,
but this is definitely not how it should be for a 3.5 star hotel.
For the rest Wendy was a very good guide, nice transport and good service.
Just a pity i also had some trouble getting home, therefore i ended the trip a bit with negative thoughts about China.
But this has nothing to do with China discovery.
I will recommend your services to other people, but please make a complaint to the hotel,
My standerds are less than other foreigners, so if in the future , you put people there to sleep, you will have more complaints,
i’m sure.
My photos are not yet on my computer, so sorry for that, but Wendy also took some, so maybe she can give you.

Hi Vivien,
The trip to China was amazing! We all had a great time and my kids still talk about it daily and say they wish they were back in China. The tours went perfectly as planned, tour guides were waiting for us as promised at each airport / train station and each morning before each days activities. The drivers were reliable and courteous.
The Zhangjiajie portion of the tour was a favorite. I don't think we could have navigated that area on our own without China Discovery. Our tour guide, Lily, was wonderful and my 6 year old son really enjoyed her. In fact, they held hands during many of long hikes. The driver was great as well as my other son was sick one day and the driver had no problem driving him and his father back to the hotel (half hour away) after lunch, while the rest of us enjoyed the afternoon's activities.
We enjoyed the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian. Tour guide Waldner was very knowledgeable with perfect English.
In Beijing, the highlight was definitely the Great Wall. We choose to go in the afternoon as tour guide Eric gave us the option and said the afternoon would be less busy. He was absolutely correct and we felt like we had the Wall all to ourselves as to our surprise and delight there was hardly anyone there. Eric was funny, knowledgeable and accommodating.
Thank you Vivien for arranging the tour for us. I appreciate all your help and prompt replies. It was such an easy process to book the tour. Once I get some of the pictures from my family, I will send some your way.

Hi Wonder,
Thanks for your Christmas greeting .and thanks for your organization of our trip to China in October.
We had a wonderful time and were very impressed as everything went very smoothly and our guides were very helpful and informative. We found China to be an exciting and forward moving country. Both the cities and country side are interesting and there are so many highlights that we enjoyed on our trip. The time we spent on the cruise was very restful and enjoyable, we loved cycling on the old city wall in Xian, visiting the "Avatar Mountains" and the favourite city was Shanghai with the Bund and the lovely water village that we visited there.
The tour was extremely well organized and we were met and transferred by very reliable guides in each destination.I would recommend your company to anyone

Hi Jack,
I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Guilin, Yangshuo and Zhangjiajie are world class tourist attractions. The scenery is spectacular. I was amazed I did not see more foreign tourists. I think it is because most people I have spoken to overseas have not heard of these places or realise how good these places are.
Guilin, Yangshuo and Zhangjiajie town centres are nice. They are a pleasant change from the crowded, polluted, concrete jungles of Shanghai and Schenzen.
The tour guides were very good. I especially liked Smiley. She tried very hard to make sure I was happy. She did well to change my itinerary after my flight was changed. The optional night boat cruise in Guilin and night show in Yangshuo recommended by Smiley were very good .
My only disappointments were:
- spending so much time travelling from Guilin to Zhangjiajie after my original flight was cancelled
- not being able to go out with the cormorant fishermen
- not being able to see the staircase through the hole in the hill in Zhangjiajie (because it was too far away and I had to leave for airport)
- having mist and low cloud obscuring the view when I went on the worlds longest cable car to the mountain with the glass walking platform (you can't control the weather)
Overall, I was very happy with the trip. If I had to do it again, I would allow more time. I think you need at least 3 days in Zhangjiajie.
You did well to organise the trip at such short notice Jack.
I am sure you would get many more tourists if you advertised these areas overseas.
Best regards
Tony

Dear Isabel,
A wonderful trip amongst wonderful people and a lovely country.
I real eye opener. New Zealanders could learn so much in terms of respect and pride from your countrymen and women. I think we New Zealanders have a long way to go toward civilization.
Your guides were excellent. I would not like to single anyone out but Jenny was exceptional. I fell in love with girl at Zhengzhou (Vicky Gee) who worked on reception at the Hotel. Vicky had the most radiant and beautiful smile I have ever seen in my life. I will never forget her. The sites we visited were all excellent but the road trip from Zhangjiajie to Jishou was also a stand out feature. The accommodation in Jishou was excellent. Although we primarily came to see Engineering and construction which were mind blowing, to me the most outstanding feature were the people.
Everything ran like clockwork.
When I come back I want to spend most of the time in the countryside and mountains. I would not be concerned about having 5, 4 or even 2 star accommodation. To me the countryside is what a land is all about. I am not a city fan. I have not downloaded any pictures as yet but will sort some out for you. In Xian Bruce picked us up in a minivan. This was not suitable for the long day out to the Terracotta Warriors and then the drive to the Zhongnanshan Tunnel as the windows were very low and we could not see out of them. Bruce remedied this and provided a 22 seater which along with the rest of the transport was very good.
Thank you so much for organising this trip and your support.
Kindest regards

Everything went so smoothly from Yichang to Zhangjiajie, Fe from Yichang waited and made sure we were situated in our cabin before she said goodbye, she even got us a porter to help us with the luggages.
When we arrived in Zhangjiajie, Lily was already standing by the train looking for us. She even helped with our luggages by herself. Both guides from these 2 places did absolutely wonderful. But I knew it is all because of you being on top of everything.

Hi Ian,
Thank you for organizing our trip in China; this was a great experience and we enjoyed the trip very much. My overall impression of the services provided is excellent. We had no issues with hotel reservations, flights, guides, etc.
All our guides, especially those who we had a chance to spend more time with (Guilin, Chengdu, Lijiang, Zhangjiajie) were great. Always very accommodating, punctual and attentive. The drivers were good. The hotels in the big cities (Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai) were excellent.
Chongqing - Dazu Rock Carvings were a great suggestion. It was a little far, but well worth the trip. The Yangtze River Cruise accommodations, cruise and tours were great. The only letdown was that we passed one of the gorges in complete darkness so could not see anything at all. I am still glad I chose this cruise and got to see the Three Lesser Gorges. Also, on the cruise we paid extra to dine at a smaller dining room and based on what we heard from other travelers, this was a good option. The tours in Chengdu were great. We did not get to see the sunrise on Mt Emei, but the night we got there, it was crystal clear and no people. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. Lijiang tours were great. I highly suggest Tiger Leaping Gorge for those that want a more active vacation - it's beautiful and peaceful. In Zhangjiajie we were able to visit Tianzi Mountain and Huangshi Village on the same day. We had enough time, but I suspect it was because we did not have to wait in long lines anywhere.
I also appreciate your prompt e-mails and your answers to all my questions during the entire time you were planning this trip and I appreciate you checking in with us a couple of times during our trip. It's been a pleasure working with you and I look forward using your services again some day when we visit China. I hope you find my comments useful. Please let me know if you would like me to go into more detail about any part of my trip.
Thank you and take care,
Zane
